Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Releases Massive Free Thank You Update Adding AMD FSR 4 and New Playable Content
Following its overwhelming success at The Game Awards 2025, where it secured nine major wins including Game of the Year and Studio of the Year, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 continues to set a rare industry benchmark. Developed by French studio Sandfall Interactive on a reported budget of under ten million dollars, the title has quickly become one of the most celebrated modern RPG releases. Now, the team has delivered on its promise with a sizable and completely free Thank You update, officially released as version 1.5.
The update introduces meaningful technical and content expansions across the board. On PC, AMD FSR 4 support has been added, delivering improved upscaling performance and image quality for a broader range of systems. This enhancement further strengthens the game’s already strong technical profile and aligns with Sandfall Interactive’s ongoing commitment to accessibility and optimization.
Version 1.5 also adds substantial new gameplay content in the form of Verso’s Drafts, a brand new playable environment. This location appears on the world map next to Lumière and becomes accessible starting from Act III. Players must unlock Esquie’s underwater traversal ability to reach the area. Verso’s Drafts introduces fresh enemy encounters environmental storytelling and hidden surprises, offering late game players meaningful new reasons to return.
Beyond new locations, the update expands progression and customization systems. New Luminas and weapons have been added, alongside new costumes for every member of the Expedition, significantly increasing visual and tactical flexibility. Late game players can also challenge newly introduced boss encounters within the Endless Tower. These battles feature enhanced variations of iconic bosses from the main campaign designed to push experienced players to their limits.
Quality of life improvements form a major pillar of the Thank You update. The Old Key quest item has been added to the game’s final area, allowing players who missed it during the prologue to complete all journals within a single playthrough. Language support has been expanded with new text and UI localizations in Czech, Ukrainian, Latin American Spanish, Turkish, Vietnamese, Thai, and Indonesian. This brings the total supported languages to nineteen, with additional localizations planned.
Several long requested gameplay features have also arrived. Lumina Sets now allow players to save up to fifty different loadouts, enabling instant tactical shifts during combat. An Abandon Battle option has been added to the pause menu and can be accessed during encounters. A full Photo Mode is now available at any time, offering extensive tools for capturing cinematic moments. Players can also adjust HUD scaling from eighty percent to one hundred twenty percent, remap controller inputs, and enjoy official certification for both Steam Deck and ROG Xbox Ally.
