CD Projekt RED Says It Has “No Plans for Additional DLCs or Expansions” for Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt RED has publicly shut down speculation about more post launch content for Cyberpunk 2077, confirming through the game’s official X account that there are currently no plans for any further DLC or expansions. The response came after a user asked when a “secret new DLC” might appear, prompting the studio to answer directly: “We have no plans for additional DLCs or expansions.

That message is significant because it closes the door, at least for now, on the idea that Cyberpunk 2077 might receive another surprise content drop after its long recovery arc and the release of Phantom Liberty. It also signals that CD Projekt RED wants to keep expectations grounded as the studio shifts attention toward its broader slate, which includes The Witcher 4, Cyberpunk 2, Project Sirius, and Project Hadar, all of which remain part of the company’s publicly outlined long term roadmap.

Naturally, the timing of this clarification has only added more fuel to the conversation around the separate rumors surrounding The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. There has been growing online speculation that a new Witcher 3 DLC could be announced or released in 2026, but that remains unconfirmed. Right now, there is no official CD Projekt RED announcement backing that claim. What the studio has done is explicitly deny more Cyberpunk 2077 DLC, while saying nothing comparable about Witcher 3 in the same exchange, and that silence is part of why the rumor cycle has continued.

From a strategic perspective, CD Projekt RED’s wording is also worth noting. The company did not frame Cyberpunk 2077 as receiving one last surprise update, nor did it tease future add on content. Instead, it used unusually clear language to say there are no plans. In gaming industry terms, that is usually the kind of message meant to reset community expectations and redirect attention toward projects that are actually in active forward development.

At the same time, fans are understandably cautious about treating any “final” statement as absolute. Cyberpunk 2077 has already had a long post launch history filled with major revisions, technical overhauls, and support that went far beyond what many expected during its rough early period. Even so, based on the studio’s current public position, there is no evidence right now that new Cyberpunk 2077 DLC is on the way.

For now, the bigger watchpoint for CD Projekt RED is not Night City but what comes next across its fantasy and science fiction pipelines. Cyberpunk 2077 appears to be entering a true maintenance phase, while the company’s future value proposition is increasingly tied to the next Witcher era, the eventual Cyberpunk sequel, and the studio’s newer franchise ambitions. Until CD Projekt RED says otherwise, players should treat fresh Cyberpunk 2077 expansion rumors as closed business rather than hidden content waiting in the wings.

Do you think CD Projekt RED should leave Cyberpunk 2077 exactly where it is now, or would you still want to see one more major expansion before the sequel arrives?
