Capcom Shows Off New Gameplay Trailer for Pragmata at Tokyo Game Show, Still No Release Date
The floor at Tokyo Game Show 2025 might not officially be open yet, but this year’s annual event has already delivered plenty of reveals through multiple showcases, including the RGG Summit and Kojima Productions’ Beyond the Strand presentation. Now, Capcom has joined the lineup with a brand-new gameplay trailer for its long-awaited third-person action title, Pragmata. Unfortunately, the new footage came without the one thing fans have been waiting years to see: a concrete release date.
The new trailer, offers a closer look at one of the game’s core features - your shelter. This safe zone serves as a hub where players can rest between missions, upgrade their armor and abilities, and unlock new weapons. Upgrades provide a variety of enhancements, such as increased damage and the ability to have Diana, your AI companion, hack multiple enemies at once. The mechanics on display are fairly familiar to fans of linear action games, but the trailer suggests that Pragmata will tie these features into its unique setting and atmosphere.
While the gameplay showcase helped ground some of Pragmata’s lingering mystery, the disappointment came when the trailer ended by reaffirming only its 2026 release window, rather than narrowing it down to a specific date. Other major Capcom projects, such as Resident Evil Requiem, already have firm release dates, which makes Pragmata’s continued ambiguity particularly frustrating for fans eager to plan ahead.
Pragmata was first announced back in 2020 and immediately stood out as one of Capcom’s most ambitious-looking projects. However, subsequent delays and years of near-radio silence cast doubts over whether it would ever release at all. The new gameplay trailer is a reassuring sign that development is on track and that Pragmata will deliver an intriguing mix of third-person shooting and puzzle-solving, yet the lack of a firm release date continues to test players’ patience.
Capcom has managed to reignite interest with this latest showcase, but fans are now waiting for the company to provide a definitive launch date that matches the anticipation the game has carried for half a decade.
What do you think of Pragmata’s latest trailer - is it shaping up to be worth the wait, or is Capcom keeping players in suspense for too long?
