Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Zombies Gameplay Showcased, Survival Mode Playable in Open Beta

Activision has officially showcased the Zombies mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, debuting its first gameplay trailer and publishing a detailed blog on the Call of Duty website that dives into this year’s narrative and gameplay mechanics. The most exciting news for fans eager to get their hands on it is that Zombies Survival Mode will be available during the upcoming Open Beta, alongside standard multiplayer offerings.

The new trailer, begins with a recap of last week’s cinematic reveal before shifting into gameplay clips set to AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell.” The footage is packed with the series’ signature action and chaos, showing off waves of undead, explosive combat, and the cast of characters players will guide through this year’s mode.

Black Ops 7 Zombies continues where Black Ops 6 left off, sending players “to the beating heart of the Dark Aether,” where multiple timelines collide. This year, players will control an eight-character crew, navigating across interconnected maps within the Dark Aether. As usual, the story will gradually unfold through seasonal post-launch updates, though for most fans, Zombies remains all about the moment-to-moment survival gameplay.

The selection of maps available at launch includes:

  • Janus Towers Plaza

  • Vandorn Farm

  • Blackwater Lake

  • Ashwood

  • Exit 115

  • Zarya Cosmodrome

  • The Fog

Each map offers unique elements that alter gameplay. For example, Exit 115 features a decrepit highway diner and gas station, Ashwood is a sinking frontier town, The Fog obscures vision with a thick blanket of mist, and Blackwater Lake’s tranquil resort vibe is overshadowed by relentless zombie waves.

One of the key additions in Black Ops 7 Zombies is the Ol’Tessie wonder vehicle, a truck that can plow through hordes and provide mobile protection. Players must repair and reinforce its frame after sustaining damage to keep it functional.

In terms of weaponry, the new Necrofluid Gauntlet joins the legendary Ray Gun as a standout tool. This powerful glove allows players to smash through zombies’ skulls, fire deadly spikes, and even pull items toward them, offering more versatility in combat than ever before.

Activision confirmed that many of these features will be playable in the upcoming Open Beta, giving fans an early chance to test maps, weapons, and mechanics before full release. This reveal follows closely after the multiplayer gameplay trailer released just two days ago, further ramping up anticipation for the next chapter in the franchise.

With its expanded crew, atmospheric maps, innovative weapons, and the return of classic undead chaos, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Zombies looks set to be one of the most ambitious entries in the mode’s history.
