World of Warcraft Midnight Launches March 2, 2026 as Blizzard Confirms Release Date

Blizzard Entertainment has officially announced that World of Warcraft Midnight, the eleventh expansion for the world’s most popular subscription based MMORPG, will launch on Monday March 2, 2026 at 3:00 PM Pacific Time. The announcement puts an end to recent speculation, including a rumor from leaker billbil kun that previously suggested a February 26 release window.

Midnight serves as the central chapter in the Worldsoul Saga, a planned trilogy shaped by returning creative lead Chris Metzen. After leaving Blizzard in 2016, Metzen returned in 2023 to oversee narrative direction, and Midnight represents the continuation of the story that began in The War Within. Xal’atath, the Harbinger of the Void, returns to Azeroth and unleashes chaos that strikes directly at the Blood Elf homelands in Eversong Woods. The arrival of the Voidstorm threatens to extinguish all light and cast the world into darkness, converging over the ancient elven kingdom of Quel’thalas.

World of Warcraft Midnight brings one of the largest content updates in the franchise’s recent history. Key features include:

  • Player housing through Neighborhoods

  • The Haranir Allied Race

  • Opt in Prey bounty hunting system

  • New Devourer specialization for Demon Hunters

  • Four explorable zones: Eversong Woods combined with the Ghostlands, Zul’Aman, Harandar and the Voidstorm

  • Eleven Delves

  • Eight Dungeons

  • Three Raids

  • A new Battleground and Training Grounds as a permanent PvP mode

  • A fully reimagined Silvermoon City now shared by both Horde and Alliance

  • Multiple campaign progression paths

  • User Interface and transmogrification improvements

Although the full expansion launches in March, player housing will open early for players who pre purchased the expansion. Early access begins next Tuesday on December 2. To celebrate the introduction of this long requested feature, Blizzard is offering cross game rewards tied to the new Welcome Home achievement, which players earn when settling into their first Neighborhood home.

In Overwatch 2, players can unlock:

  • Xal’atath Symmetra Legendary Skin

  • Xal’atath Symmetra Spray

  • Xal’atath Symmetra Name Card

  • Dark Heart Player Icon

Hearthstone players can earn the Hearth and Home card back, and Blizzard has introduced a new limited time Hearthstone event called Welcome to the Neighborhood, featuring an earnable Epic event card.

In StarCraft II, players will gain new Horde and Alliance themed StarCraft II skins to display allegiance during matches. Interestingly, Blizzard confirmed no Diablo IV crossover rewards for this event.

With player housing at last becoming a reality and the Worldsoul Saga reaching its midpoint, World of Warcraft Midnight is shaping up to be a major moment for the long running MMORPG.

Which feature of World of Warcraft Midnight are you looking forward to most and will you be participating in the housing early access next week
