Bloodlines 2 Now Includes All Clans in the Base Game; Two Story Expansions Confirmed for 2026

Paradox Interactive has announced a significant change to the content structure of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 following widespread criticism from fans. During Gamescom 2025, the publisher initially revealed that the Toreador and Lasombra clans would be locked behind the Premium Edition or offered separately as a paid DLC priced at $21.99. The announcement drew immediate backlash from the community, who argued that all clans should be available in the base version of the game, just as in the original.

After acknowledging that mistake, Paradox has confirmed that all vampire clans will now be included in the base game at launch. This ensures that every player, regardless of edition, will have access to the full set of playable clans without additional cost. The decision reflects Paradox’s willingness to respond to player concerns and underscores the importance of community feedback in shaping development priorities.

Marco Behrmann, Executive Vice President of White Wolf and Executive Producer of Bloodlines 2, released a statement thanking fans for their direct input. “Thanks to our community for the frank feedback on Bloodlines 2 and the Premium Edition. That feedback made it clear: Lasombra and Toreador belong in the base game, so that is what we are doing. We’d also like to thank The Chinese Room for their quick turnaround on the concepts for the post-launch Story Packs. We’re constantly impressed by their creativity and skill in weaving enticing narrative threads that expand on the main story in Bloodlines 2.”

With the clans now fully accessible in the base game, Paradox has restructured the Premium Edition, which will shift focus to post-launch narrative expansions and collectible content. In addition to the previously announced Santa Monica Memories cosmetic pack - a tribute to the original Bloodlines - the Premium Edition will now include the Expansion Pass, covering two story-focused DLCs planned for 2026.

The first expansion, Loose Cannon, is scheduled to release in Q2 2026. It will explore the violent perspective of Brujah Sheriff Benny, giving players the chance to step into his story of relentless pursuit. Alongside the DLC, Premium Edition owners will also receive a Benny-inspired outfit for the protagonist, Phyre. The expansion will be available separately for $14.99/£12.99/€14.99.

The second expansion, The Flower & the Flame, will arrive in Q3 2026, focusing on the enigmatic Toreador Primogen Ysabella and her creation of a sinister magnum opus. This story pack will also come with a Ysabella-inspired outfit for Phyre. Like Loose Cannon, it will retail separately for $14.99/£12.99/€14.99. For those seeking both expansions, the Expansion Pass will be available starting October 21, 2025, priced at $34.99/£28.99/€34.99.

Paradox has also announced a physical Premium Edition of Bloodlines 2, developed in partnership with PLAION. Priced at $89.99/£74.99/€89.99, this collector’s package will include the Bloodlines Nostalgia Jukebox pre-order bonus, the Expansion Pass, five character cards, a themed journal, a Steelbook case, and premium packaging, making it an attractive option for long-time fans of the series.

This reversal represents a clear victory for the community and highlights the importance of transparent communication between developers and players. By ensuring that all clans are available from the outset, Paradox and The Chinese Room have avoided fragmenting the player base and preserved the authenticity of the Vampire: The Masquerade experience. The addition of new narrative expansions provides ongoing value for players who want to explore fresh storylines, while still keeping the full core experience intact for those who purchase the standard edition.

While many fans remain focused on the November launch and eager to see how Bloodlines 2 compares to its legendary predecessor, this change demonstrates that Paradox is listening. The game now enters the final stretch to release with its foundation intact: all clans available at launch, expansions scheduled for post-release storytelling, and a community reassured that their voices carry weight.

Do you think Paradox made the right move by including all clans in the base game, or should premium editions still offer exclusive gameplay content?
