Embark Studios Drops New Arc Raiders Trailer Ahead of Multi-Platform Playtest Starting April 30
Embark Studios, the creators of the breakout multiplayer shooter The Finals, is moving full steam ahead with their next ambitious project, Arc Raiders. With a 2025 release still on the horizon, the studio is opening the gates for a new round of public playtesting this week, giving fans a closer look at what’s shaping up to be a standout in the increasingly competitive extraction shooter genre.
The Arc Raiders second public playtest kicks off this Wednesday, April 30, and for the first time, it's expanding beyond PC to include PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms. The test will run through Sunday, May 4, offering cross-platform players a chance to experience the game’s evolving design and combat systems firsthand. Interested players still have time to sign up for access on the official website
Accompanying the playtest announcement, Embark has released a new gameplay trailer that offers a deeper glimpse into Arc Raiders’ PvPvE gameplay. You can check out the trailer. The footage showcases intense cooperative battles against towering mech-like enemies and highlights the tactical chaos of combining player-vs-player combat with enemy AI in dynamic open environments.
Arc Raiders has undergone significant transformation since its initial reveal in 2021. Originally envisioned as a co-op PvE shooter, the game has since pivoted to a third-person PvPvE extraction format—placing it squarely among recent genre heavyweights but with Embark’s own cinematic flair and sci-fi tone.
Despite these shifts and multiple delays, Arc Raiders appears to be finding its identity. Embark’s track record, cemented by the success of The Finals, suggests that the studio has the talent and experience to deliver another hit, even in a genre flooded with live service shooters.
