ANANTA Really Looks Like Anime GTA in New Gameplay Trailer from TGS 2025

At Tokyo Game Show 2025, NetEase Games and Naked Rain (with studios in Hangzhou and Montreal) showcased a brand-new gameplay trailer for ANANTA, an ambitious free-to-play open world game that immediately caught attention for its striking similarities to Grand Theft Auto, but with a distinctly anime-inspired style and tone.

ANANTA is being developed for PC, PlayStation 5, and mobile devices, with the aim of immersing players in a sprawling city that feels alive at every level. Naked Rain emphasized that the metropolis is filled with interactive hotspots that encourage exploration and experimentation.

Players will be able to:

  • Pet cats in parks or witness gang clashes in alleys.

  • Hack into passerby phones to snoop on their private lives.

  • Break traffic laws by engaging in chaotic street racing.

  • Explore fully accessible interiors across rooftops, mid-levels, and ground floors.

Movement around the city includes conventional methods such as subways, buses, taxis, and cars, but players can also unlock more dynamic traversal like helicopters and even a swinging mechanic reminiscent of Spider-Man.

The game also promises action-packed combat with a focus on environmental interaction. Players can grab everyday objects - such as golf clubs, trash bins, or other debris - to fend off enemies, while also looting enemy weapons mid-battle to try out different fighting styles.

Combat mechanics include staples like dodging, blocking, and countering, with a degree of improvisation that reflects the chaotic freedom ANANTA is aiming for.

Narratively, players will take the role of the new captain of a special task force, navigating the complexities of city life while unraveling mysterious threats. The game promises a multi-perspective experience, allowing players to seamlessly switch between diverse roles such as:

  • A cop, fighting crime and upholding justice.

  • A hacker, infiltrating the city’s digital underworld.

  • A delivery driver, racing through alleys at breakneck speed.

  • A live-streamer, chasing fame in a vibrant urban community.

This layered storytelling approach aims to combine personal dramas with overarching conspiracies, building a narrative web where every role contributes to the bigger picture.

Pre-Registration Now Open

There’s still no official release window for ANANTA, but players eager to dive into its anime-style open world can already pre-register via the official website.
