AMD Instinct MI355X Gains Momentum As TensorWave Raises $350 Million For AI Expansion
TensorWave is doubling down on AMD powered AI infrastructure, raising $350 million to expand its global compute footprint and deploy new Instinct MI355X GPU clusters.
TensorWave announced a new Series B funding round valued at $350 million, bringing the company to a $1.55 billion valuation. The round was co led by Magnetar and AMD Ventures, with participation from Maverick Silicon, Nexus Venture Partners, and Western Frontier. The new funding will support TensorWave’s AMD based AI infrastructure expansion, including larger deployments of AMD Instinct MI355X GPU clusters. TensorWave says the new capacity is aimed at memory intensive workloads such as large language model training, high throughput inference, and generative AI applications.

TensorWave is positioning itself as an open alternative to capacity constrained and vertically integrated GPU supply chains. The company says customers including Fireworks AI and Luma AI are already using its AMD based infrastructure for large scale generative AI and production inference workloads.
TensorWave already operates 8,192 AMD Instinct MI325X GPUs and is preparing larger MI355X deployments across new North American data center regions. The company also says it has secured more than 2 GW of long term data center capacity for enterprise, research, and AI native customers.

That scale matters for AMD. NVIDIA still dominates the AI accelerator market, but companies looking for more memory capacity, flexible infrastructure, and open ecosystem options are increasingly evaluating AMD Instinct platforms.
The timing also sets the stage for AMD’s next move. TensorWave already lists AMD Instinct MI455X as part of its accelerator lineup, and AMD’s next generation AI hardware is expected to compete more directly with NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin platform in future data center deployments.
This is more than another AI funding round. TensorWave is becoming one of AMD’s most visible infrastructure partners at a time when the AI market is looking for alternatives to NVIDIA’s supply chain. The biggest advantage for AMD is not only chip performance. It is ecosystem credibility. If TensorWave can scale MI355X clusters and prove strong production performance for real customers, that gives AMD a much stronger story heading into MI455X.
The challenge is execution. AI cloud customers care about uptime, software maturity, scaling behavior, pricing, and support. AMD has the hardware roadmap, but TensorWave needs to prove the full infrastructure stack can compete in production.
If it succeeds, the MI455X versus Vera Rubin era could be less one sided than the current AI accelerator market suggests.
