Amazon Prime Video God of War Series Adds Heimdall, With Thor And Mimir Reportedly Circulating As The Next Big Cast Moves

Amazon Prime Video’s God of War adaptation is steadily filling out its Norse era bench, and the latest confirmation gives us a clearer signal on where showrunner Ronald D. Moore is steering the narrative. A new report from Deadline confirms Max Parker will play Heimdall, adding another major Ragnarök aligned character into the mix and reinforcing that this series is not treating the 2018 game as the only blueprint for its character rollout.

This Heimdall casting lands after Amazon previously announced Ryan Hurst as Kratos, followed by the confirmation that Teresa Palmer will play Sif. With Sif and Heimdall now in the fold, the project is effectively planting flags in the Ragnarök corner of the saga much earlier than many fans expected, which opens the door for additional Asgard focused casting in the near term. That pipeline likely includes Odin and Tyr, while core 2018 era players like Baldur and Freya remain conspicuously unconfirmed in official announcements.

Where it gets spicy for the rumor mill is that a casting report from NerdBot, later amplified by a thread on Reddit, correctly identified Parker and Palmer ahead of their wider confirmation. That same report claims Ólafur Darri Ólafsson is in line to play Thor, and that Alastair Duncan could reprise his role as Mimir from the games.

Even with NerdBot’s early accuracy, the Thor and Mimir pieces are still unconfirmed and should be treated as rumor until Amazon or the production makes it official. That said, the logic checks out from a production strategy perspective. Ólafsson has the presence for a live action Thor that can sell both menace and nuance, and keeping Duncan as Mimir would be a high value continuity play that instantly preserves character authenticity for long time fans.

If filming is still tracking for March 2026 as widely reported, the cadence suggests more formal casting confirmations could arrive soon, especially if the series wants to lock in key Asgard characters before cameras roll.

Do you want this adaptation to prioritize the 2018 emotional journey first, or are you more excited if it goes big on Ragnarök characters and political drama early?
