Aloft Surpasses 200,000 Sales in Early Access, Partners with Cool Earth for Earth Day Charity Initiative

Astrolabe Interactive has announced that Aloft, its co-op sandbox survival game, has exceeded 200,000 copies sold in Early Access since its January 2025 launch—a major milestone for the indie studio. To celebrate, Astrolabe is using its success to give back to the planet by partnering with environmental organization Cool Earth for a charity initiative aligned with Earth Day.

As part of the collaboration, 5% of the revenue earned during Steam’s Earth Appreciation Festival will be donated directly to the Cool Earth Initiative. Additionally, Aloft will be showcased in charity livestreams by various content creators and streamers, with all proceeds going to Cool Earth, which is focused on protecting rainforests and supporting the indigenous communities who steward them.

In a press release, Creative Director Manuel Bergeron highlighted how the partnership mirrors the environmental ethos at the heart of Aloft:

“One of our goals in Aloft was to offer a chance for players to learn about the fragile balance of ecosystems and have a direct positive impact on their environment. It's our honor to contribute to the environment by giving to the Cool Earth Initiative.”

Set in a mystical, skyborne world filled with floating islands, Aloft tasks players with survival and exploration while crafting, gliding, and building airborne homesteads. The game promotes a thematic connection to nature, balancing gameplay progression with eco-conscious storytelling and design.

This milestone also follows the release of Aloft’s first major content drop in March—“Critters and Wonders”—which introduced new fauna and expanded the game’s ecosystem mechanics. Astrolabe has promised more major updates throughout 2025, as outlined in their development roadmap, though specific release dates are still under wraps.

With both critical and community support growing, Aloft continues to solidify its reputation not only as a creative and engaging sandbox survival experience but also as a game with a purpose.
