27 Inch PlayStation Gaming Monitor Announced, Launches Next Year in the US and Japan
Sony has announced a new 27 inch PlayStation Gaming Monitor during today’s State of Play Japan broadcast. The new display is scheduled to launch next year in both the United States and Japan, though pricing details have not yet been revealed. Sony did, however, share its full technical specifications, positioning the monitor as a versatile option for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and PC players.
The monitor features a Quad High Definition IPS display with a resolution of up to 2560 by 1440, aimed at delivering sharp, comfortable desktop viewing. It includes High Dynamic Range support with Auto HDR Tone Mapping, allowing the PS5 and PS5 Pro to automatically optimize HDR settings during initial setup for richer image quality.
Sony is targeting smooth gameplay across platforms thanks to Variable Refresh Rate support and refresh rates of up to 120 Hz on PS5 and PS5 Pro. On compatible PC and Mac devices, the refresh rate increases to 240 Hz. The monitor also includes a built in Charging Hook designed to hold and charge a DualSense or DualSense Edge wireless controller, sold separately, giving players a convenient storage and charging point directly on the display.
Connectivity options include two HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 input. The HDMI 2.1 ports support up to 2560 by 1440 resolution, a 240 Hz refresh rate, Fixed Rate Link, and VRR. The DisplayPort 1.4 input also supports up to 2560 by 1440 resolution and 240 Hz with Display Stream Compression. Additional ports include two USB Type A ports and one USB Type C port, which can be used with PlayStation Link Adapters or other accessories. The monitor supports select VESA mounting systems for wall or arm installations.
For audio, the PlayStation Gaming Monitor includes built in stereo speakers and a 3.5 mm audio output. Sony recommends pairing the display with its upcoming Pulse Elevate Wireless Speakers, which feature planar magnetic drivers and a built in microphone. The speaker set is expected to launch sometime in 2026.
From a specification standpoint, the PlayStation Gaming Monitor sits below Sony’s higher end Inzone M10S OLED and M9 II monitors that launched last year. However, given its feature set and the absence of an OLED panel, it is expected to be significantly more affordable. Exact pricing, though, will only be confirmed closer to launch.
With strong console integration, high refresh rates, and a straightforward hardware layout, Sony appears to be positioning its new display as an accessible PlayStation branded entry point for players looking for a dedicated gaming monitor rather than a full television setup.
