XPG Unleashes MARS 980 Gen 5 SSD Series With Up to 14,000 MB/s Speeds and 4TB Capacity

XPG has officially launched its cutting-edge MARS 980 Gen 5 SSD series, offering blazing-fast speeds and robust thermal solutions for gamers, overclockers, and professional users. The new series consists of three models—MARS 980 STORM, MARS 980 BLADE, and MARS 980 PRO—all delivering top-tier PCIe 5.0 performance with sequential read speeds of up to 14,000 MB/s and write speeds reaching 13,000 MB/s.

Each model in the MARS 980 lineup targets a different use case:

  • MARS 980 STORM: Geared for extreme workloads like AI-driven computations and data analytics, this variant features a hybrid cooling system combining air and liquid elements. It includes copper heat pipes and dual fans, ensuring consistent thermal performance even under sustained high-speed operation.

  • MARS 980 PRO: Designed for high-end gaming and PC builds, this model features an integrated fan within an aluminum alloy heatsink. Utilizing a 6nm power-efficient controller, it strikes a balance between performance and thermals, reducing temperatures by up to 15% compared to passive designs.

  • MARS 980 BLADE: Engineered for compact environments such as notebooks and gaming consoles like the PlayStation 5, the BLADE offers passive cooling while still achieving the same top-tier speeds. It serves as the most budget-friendly option in the lineup while maintaining ultra-fast data throughput.

All models offer up to 4TB of capacity, supporting PCIe Gen 5.0 for future-proof storage needs. The SSDs are now live on XPG’s official website, although pricing and broader retail availability are yet to be announced.

With the MARS 980 series, XPG once again pushes the boundaries of consumer SSD performance, making it a compelling choice for power users and performance enthusiasts alike.
