Xbox to Host Tokyo Game Show 2025 Livestream, Forza Horizon 6 Reveal Strongly Expected
Microsoft has officially confirmed via Xbox Wire that it will host a Tokyo Game Show 2025 livestream on Thursday, September 25, starting at 7 PM JST / 3 AM PT / 6 AM ET / 11 AM UK. The broadcast will feature “titles from our creative teams, alongside exciting updates from our partners in Japan, across Asia and around the world.” While no official lineup has been shared, mounting evidence suggests the event will serve as the long-awaited reveal for Forza Horizon 6.
Speculation around the next entry in Playground Games’ acclaimed racing series grew after a now-deleted Instagram post from car importer Cult and Classic revealed that Playground developers had recently visited their facilities to photograph a Japanese Kei car for the Forza Horizon series. Kei cars, being uniquely Japanese, fueled expectations that Forza Horizon 6 could be set in Japan.
Adding to this, Windows Central reported on circulating “official documents” that pointed directly to a TGS 2025 reveal, claims later echoed by Nate the Hate and Insider-Gaming. Taken together, the leaks strongly suggest that Playground Games’ next open-world racer will debut during the Tokyo showcase, even if the setting itself has yet to be officially confirmed.
The possibility of Japan as the backdrop for Forza Horizon 6 is particularly enticing. It would not only be a natural fit for TGS but would also fulfill years of fan requests for the series to explore the country’s unique car culture, winding mountain roads, and vibrant cityscapes. Even if Japan is not the chosen setting, the heavy emphasis on Japanese automotive elements makes the TGS reveal a symbolic choice.
In its announcement, Xbox noted:
“We know players around the world delight in Japan-inspired content and games developed in Asia, and we can’t wait to connect with players across the globe to show off the incredible talent and creativity behind upcoming games coming to Xbox.”
Beyond a potential Forza Horizon 6 announcement, the Xbox booth at TGS 2025 will also feature a public demo of Ninja Gaiden 4, following its preview at Gamescom 2025. Visitors will also get hands-on time with the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X handhelds, ahead of their scheduled October release.
With Forza Horizon 5 still going strong nearly four years after launch, expectations for Playground’s next title are sky-high. If confirmed, a Japanese setting would mark one of the most ambitious and culturally resonant shifts in the franchise’s history.
Do you think Forza Horizon 6 will finally take the series to Japan, or is Playground preparing another unexpected location?
