WUCHANG Fallen Feathers Sequel Reunites 505 Games With Its Original Director

505 Games has officially confirmed that a sequel to WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers is in development through a new partnership with Indolphinity, a studio founded by original game director Xia Siyuan. The announcement restores the creative leadership behind the first game after the reported collapse of its original development team at Leenzee.

Indolphinity will lead development from Chengdu, China, while 505 Games continues as publisher. Digital Bros, the parent company of 505 Games, will also establish a dedicated subsidiary in Chengdu to support the studio and strengthen its position within the Chinese game development market. No official title, platforms, gameplay details, or release window have been revealed.

The agreement follows Digital Bros’ decision to acquire the WUCHANG intellectual property for approximately €4 million in April 2026. At the time, the company confirmed that the original game had sold more than 1 million copies by March 31, 2026 and generated over €30 million in revenue after taxes and platform commissions.

The acquisition arrived shortly after reports that Xia Siyuan had been dismissed and that the remaining Leenzee development team had been offered support or outsourcing positions. Many employees reportedly rejected those roles, resulting in the dissolution of the original team structure. Digital Bros now appears to have rebuilt the franchise around its original director rather than transferring the property to an unrelated studio.

WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers recently surpassed 5 million players across PC and consoles. This figure represents total players rather than confirmed unit sales, an important distinction because the game launched through Xbox Game Pass alongside its retail release. The milestone nevertheless demonstrates substantial audience interest and helps explain why 505 Games is investing in a new chapter.

Reuniting WUCHANG with Xia Siyuan gives the sequel a stronger creative foundation than simply assigning the franchise to a new external team. Digital Bros owns the intellectual property, 505 Games retains publishing control, and Indolphinity provides a path for the original director to continue the series without depending on Leenzee.

The biggest challenge will be rebuilding the wider development expertise that produced the first game while addressing its technical problems, performance criticism, and controversial post launch changes. A sequel with stronger optimization, more polished combat balance, and a clearer creative direction could transform WUCHANG from a successful standalone release into a globally recognized Soulslike franchise.

Can the original director and a new studio deliver a stronger WUCHANG sequel, or will the loss of the first development team be difficult to overcome?
