Wizards of the Coast Brings the Spirit of Dungeons and Dragons Homebrew to Fortnite With 5 New Creator Made Islands

Wizards of the Coast is officially stepping into Fortnite Creative with a new Dungeons and Dragons themed initiative that aims to translate the tabletop homebrew mindset into bite sized, replayable Fortnite experiences. According to Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro’s announcement, the company is rolling out 5 new Fortnite Islands built in collaboration with UEFN creators Chartis Games and Teravision Games, with each island designed to pull from iconic Dungeons and Dragons locations, monsters, and gameplay flavors that range from competitive formats to a large scale cooperative roguelike style adventure.

Wizards of the Coast frames this as a deliberate experimentation phase rather than a one off stunt, positioning the drop as a launch and learn initiative that tests how Dungeons and Dragons can reach Fortnite’s massive audience in ways that still feel meaningful to the franchise’s long time community. Nick Strann, Franchise Strategy Director for Dungeons and Dragons, says the goal is to support creators, explore new mediums, and use player feedback to help shape what future Dungeons and Dragons adventures could look like in places where audiences already spend time.

The timing is also smart from a culture funnel perspective. Fortnite thrives on fast moving collab momentum, and Dungeons and Dragons arrives with a ready made fantasy toolkit that can attract both roleplay minded players and those who just want a new set of arenas and challenges. It is not being positioned as an environment wide Fortnite takeover like some of the largest seasonal moments, but it is an efficient proof of concept that can scale quickly if engagement spikes and creator feedback loops turn positive.

If Wizards of the Coast sees strong retention and creator traction, this move could be the opening chapter for a much bigger Dungeons and Dragons footprint inside Fortnite. The key metric will not just be first week curiosity, but whether players keep rotating these islands into their regular Discover habits, because that is where Fortnite collaborations become long term platforms rather than short term headlines

Which island are you trying first, and do you want Wizards of the Coast to push for a larger scale Dungeons and Dragons takeover inside Fortnite if this batch performs well
