Warframe Expands Its Universe With 'The Old Peace' in 2025 and 'Tau' in 2026

During the milestone tenth edition of TennoCon 2025, developer Digital Extremes revealed the next major chapters in the ever-evolving world of Warframe. The free-to-play third-person online action game is set to expand significantly over the next two years with ambitious narrative arcs, a reworked Operator system, new Warframes, and a long-awaited mobile platform expansion.

Later this year, Warframe will receive a new story-driven update titled “The Old Peace”, continuing the current “Void War” saga. This narrative chapter invites players to experience a deep flashback into the past, exploring the friendship between Tau and Adis, and the catastrophic war between the Orokin and the Dax Anarch Warriors, a brand-new enemy faction. The Perita moon serves as the battlefield for this operator-focused quest, setting the stage for the next major chapter: Tau, slated to arrive sometime in 2026.

In tandem with The Old Peace, players will also explore “The Devil's Triad,” a separate side story introducing three new characters:

  • Father Lyon Allard (Protoframe of Harrow)

  • Marie Leroux (Protoframe of Wisp)

  • Uriel, the all-new devil-themed Warframe

Both narratives will continue pushing the lore depth and character complexity Warframe is known for.

Accompanying these narrative developments, Digital Extremes announced a graphical overhaul of the Operator system, enhancing models, cosmetic assets, and facial animations. This brings them in line with Warframe’s modern visual standards. Moreover, an entirely new Ultimate ability for the Operator is in development, with more information expected later this year.

In addition to major story updates, the studio also unveiled an untitled Fall update, aimed at refining the new player experience. This update will introduce a new tutorial Mod quest called “The Teacher,” developed in collaboration with Sumo Digital, and promises to be instrumental in easing the learning curve for incoming players. The patch will also include:

  • The 62nd Warframe

  • A full Oberon rework

  • A new Lavos deluxe skin

  • Multiple quality-of-life improvements

Further details will be shared in the September Devstream.

Lastly, Warframe’s long-anticipated mobile launch on Android is on the horizon. The closed beta for Android is scheduled for this Fall, with sign-ups now live at warframe.com/android.

With these updates, Digital Extremes continues to push boundaries in storytelling, technical advancements, and platform accessibility, offering players both old and new a compelling future for the Warframe universe.
