GTA 6 Still Looks Locked for November 19 as Strauss Zelnick Jokes About a Massive Sick Day Wave

Grand Theft Auto VI still appears to be on course for its November 19, 2026 launch, and the latest public comment from Take Two chief executive officer Strauss Zelnick is only adding more confidence to that timeline. Rockstar’s official site continues to list the game as coming on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, which remains the clearest public release target currently attached to the project.

During a recent appearance tied to the iicon conference, Zelnick reportedly joked that “a lot of people will be calling in sick on November 19,” a remark that has quickly been interpreted by fans as a strong sign that Take Two is not expecting another delay. As reported by IGN, the comment was made casually rather than as a formal release reassurance, but that is exactly why it is drawing attention. A throwaway joke built around a specific launch date suggests the company is still comfortable speaking as though that date is real and intact.

That does not mean Rockstar is suddenly immune to delays. The studio already pushed Grand Theft Auto VI from its earlier May 26, 2026 target to November 19, 2026, with Rockstar previously saying it needed more time to deliver the level of quality players expect. Because of that history, fan caution is understandable. Even so, there is an important difference between general community anxiety and actual public signals from Take Two. Right now, the official signals still point to November.

The pricing conversation is also beginning to heat up again as the launch window gets closer. According to the same IGN referenced coverage, Zelnick did not lock in a final price, but he did reiterate a familiar Take Two position that consumers pay for value and that the company aims to price its products below the value they believe they deliver. That does not confirm whether GTA 6 will stay within current premium game pricing or push above it, but it does suggest Take Two is already framing the discussion around value rather than sticker shock.

For Rockstar and Take Two, this is a critical period. GTA 6 is not just another major release. It is one of the biggest entertainment launches of the decade, and every public comment is being dissected for clues about timing, pricing, and confidence. Zelnick’s joke may not be a formal production update, but in this case it still matters because it reinforces the current message instead of softening it.

Until Rockstar says otherwise, the practical reading is simple. GTA 6 remains set for November 19, 2026, and Take Two is still speaking publicly as though players should clear their schedules for that day. After years of waiting and multiple shifts in timing, that is about as close to reassurance as fans are likely to get without a fresh trailer, pre order announcement, or full marketing rollout.

Do you believe GTA 6 really makes the November 19 date this time, or are you still expecting one more delay before launch?
