Turn-Based cRPG Starfinder: Afterlight Reaches Minimum Kickstarter Goal in 80 Minutes

Barcelona-based indie developer Epictellers Entertainment has achieved an impressive milestone with its upcoming turn-based cRPG Starfinder: Afterlight. The studio announced that the project surpassed its minimum funding goal of €75,000 on Kickstarter just 80 minutes after launch, proving the immense excitement surrounding this new adaptation of Paizo’s acclaimed science-fantasy universe.

As of now, the campaign has already amassed around €280,000, with nearly a full month left before closing. Given such a strong start, it is expected that Epictellers will exceed several stretch goals and expand the game’s scope even further by the time the campaign concludes.

Starfinder: Afterlight is based on Paizo’s 2017 Starfinder universe, a tabletop RPG that blends science fiction with fantasy elements. Epictellers describes the project as “Divinity: Original Sin meets Guardians of the Galaxy,” combining tactical, turn-based combat with strong narrative-driven exploration and moral choice systems.

Players will command a legendary crew as they face the collapse of the galaxy. The story begins when the ship’s captain mysteriously vanishes just as annihilation looms over the cosmos. To survive, players must gather a diverse crew of misfits, from android assassins to mystic prophets, each with deeply personal storylines, philosophical dilemmas, and branching loyalty outcomes.

The game will feature six playable classes adapted from Starfinder’s second edition: soldier, envoy, operative, mystic, solarian, and witchwarper. Leveling up, acquiring powerful alien gear, and customizing abilities will all play a central role in shaping a unique playthrough.

Epictellers emphasizes that “no choice is forbidden, but everything has consequences.” Factions will remember your decisions, companions will react to your morality, and the world will evolve based on your path, ensuring high replayability and narrative depth.

The game promises 40 to 60 hours of rich storytelling, with environments ranging from neon-lit stations and undead worlds to digital gods and cosmic dragons. Players can adjust difficulty from a story mode to Nightmare, while mod support and community tools will be available on PC to foster creativity and longevity.

Adding to its cinematic ambition, Starfinder: Afterlight features voice direction by Neil Newbon, best known for his award-winning performance as Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3, further solidifying the project’s commitment to emotional depth and professional production quality.

Starfinder: Afterlight is currently planned for a Q2 2026 release on Steam Early Access, where it will launch with Act 1, offering around 10 to 15 hours of gameplay. The complete version is projected for a 2027 full release, according to its Steam page. With its strong crowdfunding debut, deep RPG mechanics, and faithful adaptation of the Starfinder universe, Afterlight has already positioned itself as one of the most promising independent role-playing projects in development.
