The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Cross-Platform Mod Support Delayed Into 2026

CD Projekt RED has confirmed that one of the most anticipated features for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s 10th anniversary celebration - cross-platform mod support - has been delayed and will now launch sometime in 2026.

The studio made the announcement via the official Witcher X (formerly Twitter) account, apologizing to fans for the delay and promising more details as the new rollout date approaches.

“We originally planned to introduce cross-platform mod support for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S later this year, but the rollout is now shifting to 2026. We apologize for the delay and will share more details as we get closer to the release. Thank you for your patience!” - CD Projekt RED

Cross-platform mod support was first teased as part of the game’s 10th anniversary updates, which also include various in-game enhancements and community-focused content. The feature is designed to allow modding across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, bridging the player base like never before in The Witcher franchise.

While the delay is a setback, it signals that CDPR may be taking extra time to ensure stability, compatibility, and moderation tools before enabling such a wide-reaching system.

Fans of the series still have plenty to look forward to:

  • Netflix’s The Witcher Season 4 premieres on October 30, 2025, continuing the live-action adaptation with a new cast lead.

  • A recently released immersion-focused fan mod for Wild Hunt further enhances the visuals and gameplay, with many players calling it the most definitive community “remaster” yet.

Though the wait for cross-platform modding will now extend into 2026, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt remains one of the most modded RPGs ever made, with thousands of community projects breathing new life into Geralt’s journey even a decade after its release. The upcoming official support promises to unify this creativity across platforms in a way no Witcher game has seen before.

Do you think CDPR delaying cross-platform modding was the right call for stability, or were you hoping to see it launch as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations this year?
