The Finals Season 8 Launches With New Destruction, Weapons, and QoL Features

Embark Studios has officially launched Season 8 of The Finals, titled Game Time, bringing with it major new features, expanded destruction mechanics, long-awaited weapons, and a host of quality-of-life updates.

The studio highlighted that one of the biggest additions this season is “Smooth Destruction”, which takes the game’s trademark destructible environments to the next level. According to Embark’s press release, players will now see large-scale effects like cranes cutting through buildings and suspended structures collapsing with massive impact, adding more realism and tactical opportunities to every match.

Two long-requested weapons are also making their debut in Season 8:

  • P90 SMG (Medium Class): The first-ever SMG available to the Medium class, expected to significantly shake up the meta.

  • BFR Revolver (Heavy Class): A high-powered revolver tailored for heavy-hitting gameplay.

Beyond combat changes, Season 8 introduces several new quality-of-life features:

  • Instant Replay: Lets players view moments from their opponent’s perspective.

  • Mouse and Keyboard Support on Consoles: Expanding control options for console players.

  • Match Recap Page: Provides a more detailed and accessible breakdown of stats after each match.

As always, the new season comes with a fresh battle pass loaded with cosmetics, including new customization options to help players stand out in the arena.

With destructibility improvements, impactful new weapons, and expanded gameplay features, Game Time marks one of the most ambitious seasonal updates for The Finals yet, reinforcing why the game has remained a standout in the competitive FPS space.

Will the P90’s arrival shift the balance of The Finals meta, or will Smooth Destruction steal the spotlight this season?
