Techland Unveils New Dying Light: The Beast Trailer, Highlights Parkour and Combat Innovations
With less than three weeks to go before launch, Techland has released a new trailer for Dying Light: The Beast alongside an in-depth developer blog that details how the studio has expanded both parkour and combat systems for its upcoming action-horror sequel. The game is now set to release on September 19, 2025, following a short delay from its original August date.
The new footage showcases protagonist Kyle Crane’s internal struggle with the monstrous Beast form, highlighting the tension between his human agility and the raw ferocity of his transformation. To fully convey this duality, Techland confirmed that The Beast features over 100 new animations, with 17 fresh grab animations specifically designed to emphasize Crane’s heightened speed, mobility, and power. This is a notable leap from previous entries in the franchise, where parkour was central but animations were less varied.
A second behind-the-scenes video explores how these mechanics translate into gameplay, blending fast-paced urban traversal with brutal melee encounters. The developers describe their goal as ensuring players feel both “predator and survivor,” seamlessly transitioning from wall-runs and vaults into devastating strikes.
Dying Light: The Beast was originally scheduled for release on August 22, but Techland announced a four-week delay to September 19 to finalize polish and stability. The extra time appears to be paying off, as the latest footage suggests the game is shaping up into one of Techland’s most ambitious titles yet, expanding on the parkour-driven combat system that defined the franchise.
