The Game Awards 2025 delivered another major surprise with the reveal of Star Wars Galactic Racer, a new high velocity arcade racing experience crafted by Fuse Games the studio founded by former Criterion veterans known for Burnout and Need for Speed. The announcement confirms the title will arrive on PC PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S sometime in 2026.

Developed by Fuse Games and published by Secret Mode Galactic Racer marks the second Star Wars announcement of the night and expands the already substantial slate of Star Wars projects in development. Joining upcoming titles such as Star Wars Eclipse, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake, Star Wars Fate of the Old Republic, Star Wars Zero Company, and the next Star Wars Jedi installment Galactic Racer sets itself apart by returning to high energy racing across the galaxy but with a modern twist. Rather than exclusively relying on podracing the game blends pods with classic Star Wars speeders promising a more diverse and dynamic racing ecosystem.

Fuse Games CEO Matt Webster describes Galactic Racer as an attempt to “reinvent what a racing game can be” emphasizing adventurous spectacle exhilarating high speed moments and races filled with dynamic risk reward decision making. Webster highlights the studio’s goal to ensure that every race feels alive and every victory feels unforgettable.

Lucasfilm’s Douglas Reilly echoed the excitement noting that Star Wars has always embraced racing culture from the iconic podrace sequences to planet spanning chases. Galactic Racer aims to elevate that heritage into a new form of racing adventure designed to capture the thrill and imaginative spirit at the core of the franchise.

Players will enter the Galactic League beginning as a lone racer on the Outer Rim and rising through the ranks toward galactic renown. The game features deep vehicle customization allowing players to build and tune their own machines to suit different racing strategies.
