Resident Evil Requiem and Onimusha: Way of the Sword Confirmed Playable at Gamescom 2025

CAPCOM has officially confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem and Onimusha: Way of the Sword will be playable for the first time during Gamescom 2025, giving fans and press a long-awaited opportunity to go hands-on with two of the most anticipated titles in its upcoming lineup.

Gamescom 2025 takes place from August 20 to August 24 in Cologne, Germany, and both titles will be available at CAPCOM’s booth across an impressive 950 square meters of space with over 85 demo stations set up for the public.

A Return to Horror and Samurai Action

Resident Evil Requiem, first revealed at Summer Game Fest 2025, has stirred considerable intrigue and speculation. Its debut trailer introduced a new protagonist named Grace, hinting at a major connection to the events of Raccoon City—a pivotal location in Resident Evil lore. While many narrative details remain under wraps, the setting and character reveal alone have reignited excitement among long-time fans.

Meanwhile, Onimusha: Way of the Sword represents a bold return to one of CAPCOM’s most beloved franchises. The action-packed samurai title has steadily gained momentum with each showing, offering glimpses of combat systems and narrative elements that blend historical fantasy with supernatural horror. The latest gameplay preview, while limited, left a strong impression with fluid swordplay and stylized visuals that embrace the franchise's roots while modernizing its presentation.

Pragmata Could Also Make a Surprise Appearance

While Pragmata was not officially confirmed as playable, it’s worth noting that the game re-emerged during the recent State of Play with a brand-new trailer and 2026 release window. With two major CAPCOM titles already on the Gamescom 2025 demo list, there’s a strong possibility that Pragmata will also be available for hands-on previews, making the booth one of the most anticipated attractions at the event.

Mark Your Calendars

  • Resident Evil Requiem is set to launch on February 27, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S.

  • Onimusha: Way of the Sword is expected sometime in 2026, with a release across PC and current-gen consoles.
