Rainbow Six Siege X Launches with Free Access, Revamped Graphics, and New 6v6 Mode

Ubisoft has officially launched Rainbow Six Siege X, a major evolution of its flagship tactical shooter, now available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, and Amazon Luna. This latest release marks a bold new era for Siege, not only overhauling visuals, audio, and gameplay mechanics but also making the core experience free-to-play for all.

Free Access & Editions

With the launch of Siege X, Ubisoft introduces free access for newcomers, allowing players to experience the game's core without payment. Free players can dive into Unranked, Quick Match, and the brand-new Dual Front 6v6 mode, using a pre-selected roster of Operators. To unlock more content, Ubisoft offers two paid tiers:

  • Elite Edition ($19.99): All game modes (including Ranked and Siege Cup) + 16 Operators.

  • Ultimate Edition ($39.99): Includes everything in Elite + access to 52 Operators and the Disruptor Pack.

This approach creates a flexible model where players can scale their experience based on commitment and playstyle preference.

Dual Front Mode: Tactical Respawn Warfare

The biggest gameplay addition is Dual Front, a permanent 6v6 mode that breaks traditional boundaries by allowing Attackers and Defenders to mix on both sides. Players fight to capture enemy sectors while defending their own, with respawns, operator swaps, and Neutral Sector assignments offering dynamic and layered engagements previously unseen in Siege.

Visual & Audio Overhauls

Rainbow Six Siege X isn't just about new content—it’s a comprehensive technical overhaul:

  • Five maps (Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank, Kafe) have been rebuilt with enhanced lighting, shadows, and higher resolutions.

  • Three more legacy maps will be upgraded each season.

  • Environmental interactions have expanded with destructible objects like gas pipes, fire extinguishers, and metal detectors, adding new strategic layers.

  • Rappelling and momentum movement have been refined—players can now sprint horizontally along walls and swing around building corners.

Meanwhile, audio has been re-engineered from the ground up. Enhanced propagation and reverb now allow players to determine enemy positions and room types by listening carefully, turning sound into a tactical asset.

Improved Onboarding for New Recruits

Understanding the importance of accessibility, Ubisoft Montréal has also introduced a new onboarding experience, helping new players ramp up their skills and confidence before jumping into competitive matches. This ensures that Rainbow Six Siege X remains inclusive, even as it deepens its tactical complexity.

Rainbow Six Siege X is now available globally with free access on all platforms.
