PlayStation Loads PS Plus Essential for May 2026 With Wuchang, Nine Sols, and EA Sports FC 26

PlayStation has officially revealed the PlayStation Plus Essential monthly games for May 2026, and this month’s lineup is a strong one for action fans. Sony confirmed that EA Sports FC 26, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and Nine Sols will all be available to PlayStation Plus members starting May 5, 2026. Sony also confirmed that subscribers have until May 4, 2026 to claim April’s lineup, which includes Lords of the Fallen, Tomb Raider I III Remastered, and Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream.

The big talking point this month is clearly the Soulslike angle. After April already featured Lords of the Fallen, Sony is now following up with 2 more games that fit directly into the same broader action RPG lane. Wuchang: Fallen Feathers brings a darker, more traditional Soulslike structure, while Nine Sols takes that challenge into a 2D action platformer format built around deflection based combat. That gives PS Plus Essential a notably stronger action focused identity than usual for a monthly drop.

Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is one of the more interesting inclusions because the game has stayed in the news recently for reasons beyond its original launch. On PlayStation Blog, Sony describes it as a Soulslike action RPG set in the final years of China’s Ming Dynasty, where players control Wuchang, a pirate warrior suffering from the mysterious Feathering affliction while exploring a monster filled world shaped by war and mutation.

Nine Sols gives the lineup a different flavor, but still keeps the same challenge driven appeal. Sony describes it as a hand drawn 2D action platformer with Sekiro inspired deflection based combat, built around a revenge story in a land ruled by ancient alien deities. For subscribers who enjoy timing based parries, punishing boss fights, and tightly tuned combat systems, this is a very strong addition to pair with Wuchang.

The third game, EA Sports FC 26, gives the lineup mainstream weight and broader reach. Sony says the game includes over 20,000 players, 750 plus clubs and national teams, 120 plus stadiums, and 35 plus leagues. PlayStation Plus members will also receive an EA Sports FC 26 PlayStation Plus Icons Pack as an additional entitlement during the game’s monthly residency.

From a value perspective, this is a smart monthly mix from Sony. Wuchang and Nine Sols give the lineup a clear identity for hardcore action players, while EA Sports FC 26 adds a mass market sports title that broadens the package well beyond the Soulslike audience. It is one of the more coherent PS Plus Essential months in recent memory, especially for players who like skill based combat and demanding action games. That last point is an inference based on the officially announced lineup and genre focus.
