Pearl Abyss Pushes Back on Crimson Desert Console Concerns as Players Demand Raw PS5 and Xbox Footage Before Launch

Crimson Desert is now feeling the long shadow of Cyberpunk 2077’s launch era trust issues, and the conversation has escalated as the game approaches its March 19, 2026 release date. A growing segment of players on X has been questioning why most of the longer form gameplay deep dives appear to be captured on PC, and why outlets receiving review access have reportedly only been sent PC copies so close to launch.

To be clear, there has been console footage shown publicly, including the official trailer footage seen in this Console trailer. The friction point is that the footage shown so far has largely been in edited marketing form, while the longer gameplay focused videos often include notes that the footage was captured on PC. With weeks left before release and console review codes seemingly absent in the wild, players are connecting dots they have been trained to connect since 2020.

In a post on X, Pearl Abyss western facing representative Will Powers pushed back strongly against claims the team is hiding the console versions. In his words, the studio is not hiding anything, and he says he has repeated many times that Pearl Abyss plans to reveal more ahead of launch so players still have adequate time to decide whether to preorder.

This is a critical communications moment because the argument players are making is not simply about graphics. It is about parity, transparency, and performance confidence. In today’s market, players want to see unfiltered gameplay on the exact platform they intend to buy on, especially for a large scale, high fidelity open world action game. The memory of Cyberpunk 2077’s last generation console disconnect created a permanent demand for proof, not reassurance.

Pearl Abyss’ message effectively asks for patience while it prepares more information. That can work, but only if the follow through arrives quickly and clearly. In practical terms, that means raw PS5 and Xbox Series X and S gameplay with stable frame pacing, visible resolution targets, and representative combat and traversal scenarios. Anything short of that will keep the skepticism cycle alive, because players are not just evaluating Crimson Desert, they are evaluating the entire pre launch trust contract.

For outlets reviewing on PC, the coverage may still be valuable for systems, world design, combat depth, and content scope. But the immediate community temperature is centered on console performance and whether the final product aligns with what marketing has implied. If Pearl Abyss wants to de risk launch week sentiment, the most effective move is simple: show extended console gameplay, uncut, and soon.

Do you need to see raw PS5 and Xbox gameplay before buying Crimson Desert, or are you comfortable trusting PC previews and waiting for console performance reports after launch?
