NVIDIA Releases New GeForce Drivers Ahead of Forza Horizon 6, Directive 8020, and Subnautica 2 With DLSS 4.5 Support

NVIDIA has released a new GeForce Game Ready Driver built to prepare PC players for one of the busiest launch windows of the month, with support centered on Forza Horizon 6 and expanded coverage for Directive 8020 and Subnautica 2. According to NVIDIA, the new driver optimizes Forza Horizon 6 with DLSS Super Resolution, DLSS Multi Frame Generation, and ray tracing, while also adding launch week support for Directive 8020 and Subnautica 2.

Forza Horizon 6 is clearly the headline release in this driver rollout. NVIDIA states that Premium Edition owners can begin early access on May 15, 2026, ahead of the full launch on May 19, 2026. Out of the box, the game supports DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and DLSS Multi Frame Generation, while RTX 50 Series users can also upgrade through the NVIDIA app to DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation 6X Mode. NVIDIA’s own performance data claims up to a 5.2X average uplift at 4K with max settings and ray tracing enabled, with the RTX 5070 Ti exceeding 200 FPS, the RTX 5080 topping 230 FPS, and the RTX 5090 moving beyond 330 FPS.

Outside the open road, NVIDIA is also using this driver cycle to reinforce a broader DLSS push across new and updated releases. Directive 8020 officially launched on May 12, 2026, and arrives with support for path tracing, DLSS Ray Reconstruction, and DLSS 4.5 Dynamic Multi Frame Generation on GeForce RTX 50 Series hardware. Subnautica 2 entered Early Access on May 14, 2026, with DLSS Super Resolution and DLSS Frame Generation at launch, both of which can be upgraded through the NVIDIA app to DLSS 4.5 features. NVIDIA also confirmed that Blades of Fire launches on Steam on May 14 with its Version 2.0 update and new DLSS support, giving PC players yet another reason to update their drivers this week.

From a market perspective, this is a smart move from NVIDIA. Rather than framing the driver as support for one blockbuster release, the company is positioning this update as a broader ecosystem enabler for racing, horror, survival, and action audiences at the same time. For GeForce users, especially those already on RTX 50 Series cards, this driver looks less like a routine maintenance release and more like a launch week performance package designed to maximize value across several high visibility titles.

Are you updating your drivers for Forza Horizon 6 first, or is Directive 8020, Subnautica 2, or Blades of Fire the real priority on your PC this week?
