Noctua Launches NF A12x25 G2 chromax.black at 34.90$ as Its Flagship 120mm Fan Finally Goes Full Black

Noctua has officially introduced the black version of its flagship 120mm fan, with the new NF A12x25 G2 chromax.black arriving as the all black counterpart to the beige and brown NF A12x25 G2 released last year. The company announced the new model on May 12, 2026, confirming that it keeps the same acoustic and cooling profile as the standard G2 version while shifting the design to a cleaner all black finish for builders who prefer darker themed systems.

From a product positioning standpoint, this is exactly the release many PC enthusiasts were waiting for. The original NF A12x25 became one of Noctua’s most celebrated fans, and the second generation model quickly continued that momentum. Noctua says the NF A12x25 G2 has received more than 70 awards and recommendations since its June 2025 debut, making the chromax.black version less of a redesign and more of a long requested aesthetic expansion of an already proven platform.

Technically, nothing changes in the move to black. Noctua says the new fan keeps the same advanced aerodynamic design as the regular G2, including the Progressive Bend impeller, Centrifugal Turbulator hub, winglets, Sterrox liquid crystal polymer impeller, and the extremely tight 0.5mm tip clearance that helped make the series stand out. The company positions it for both case airflow and pressure focused roles such as radiators, which keeps it aimed squarely at high end PC cases, AIO liquid coolers, and premium air cooling setups.

Noctua is also launching a dual fan pack called the NF A12x25 G2 PWM Sx2 PP chromax.black, and that version carries one of the more useful engineering touches in the lineup. The company says the 2 fans in the pack are slightly offset in speed by around 50 RPM in order to reduce harmonic issues such as beat frequencies, which can cause periodic humming or vibration when multiple fans run at nearly the same speed. That makes the dual pack especially relevant for push pull radiator setups and for cases using 2 or more closely mounted 120mm fans.

On the commercial side, Noctua has set the suggested retail price of the single NF A12x25 G2 PWM chromax.black at 34.90$ and the dual fan Sx2 PP pack at 64.90$. The fan also carries Noctua’s premium SSO2 bearing, a rated MTTF of more than 150,000 hours, and a 6 year manufacturer warranty, which keeps the new black edition aligned with the brand’s usual premium positioning rather than turning it into a cosmetic only budget variant.

For builders, the value of this launch is simple. It gives one of the most respected 120mm fan platforms on the market a finish that fits far more modern PC builds without asking users to compromise on performance. For Noctua, it is another smart portfolio expansion that lets the company capture demand from enthusiasts who always wanted G2 class performance without the signature beige look.

Would you take the new black version for your next build, or do you still think Noctua’s classic beige look is part of its identity?
