New Xbox UI Image Shows Steam Label, Suggesting Further Integration Between Xbox and Windows

The Xbox UI is poised for significant changes, and a recently shared—and swiftly removed—image suggests deeper integration with Steam and other PC gaming platforms.

Expanding the Xbox Ecosystem

As reported by The Verge, an image appeared in a blog post titled "Opening a Billion Doors With Xbox" highlighting Microsoft's evolving strategy to support gaming across multiple devices. Notably, the image showcased an Xbox UI with a clearly visible Steam label in different interface variants, including TV, tablet, and handheld modes.

According to unspecified sources, Microsoft is developing an Xbox app update that could display every game installed on a PC—regardless of whether it was purchased via the Xbox Store, Steam, or the Epic Games Store. While this feature is still in early development and could be altered or removed, it aligns with Microsoft's broader vision of unifying gaming experiences across platforms.

Hardware Developments and Future Plans

Beyond software updates, Microsoft is also advancing its hardware roadmap. The company is reportedly working on:

  • A premium successor to the Xbox Series X

  • A handheld console

  • A collaboration with ASUS on a handheld device known as Project Keenan, expected to launch later this year

Project Keenan is designed to run full Windows, with a strong focus on the Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass while also supporting Steam and other digital storefronts. This makes it plausible that the new Xbox UI, featuring Steam integration, could debut alongside the handheld’s release.

If Microsoft fully implements this expanded Xbox ecosystem, it could significantly change how players access and organize their game libraries across consoles and PCs.

Would you like to see full Steam and Epic Games Store integration in the Xbox UI? How do you think this shift will impact the gaming industry?
