MSI Showcases MPG B850I EDGE TI WIFI Mini-ITX Motherboard Running 128GB DDR5 at 8200 MT/s With V-Color Memory
MSI’s compact new Mini-ITX motherboard—the MPG B850I EDGE TI WIFI—has been spotted delivering high-end memory performance, pushing 128 GB of DDR5 memory to an impressive 8200 MT/s, according to a leak from hardware insider @g01d3nm4ng0 (chi11eddog).
Compact Form, Enthusiast Performance
Built around AMD’s upcoming B850 chipset, the MPG B850I EDGE TI WIFI is designed for small form factor builders who don’t want to sacrifice performance. Despite its Mini-ITX size, the board supports two DIMM slots, enabling up to 128 GB of DDR5 memory—an impressive feat, considering this requires the latest 64 GB UDIMM modules now entering the consumer market.
In a recent demonstration, the board was paired with an AMD Ryzen 5 9600X CPU and two v-color DDR5 DIMMs, each with 64 GB capacity. Leveraging SK Hynix ICs, the modules ran at 8200 MT/s with tight timings of 44-58-58-126-CR1, showcasing both high capacity and high speed—a rare combination in small-form-factor setups.
Ideal for Enthusiasts & Creators in Compact Builds
This demonstration suggests AM5-based Mini-ITX systems are finally catching up with full-size ATX boards in terms of memory support. The B850I EDGE TI WIFI could be ideal for compact content creation rigs, enthusiast builds, or high-performance HTPCs, especially as memory manufacturers like v-color continue pushing the boundaries of speed and density.
MSI has confirmed that the MPG B850I EDGE TI WIFI will officially launch in Q2 2025. In addition to this Mini-ITX board, MSI is also preparing new high-end mATX models under its MPOWER series, further expanding its next-gen AM5 motherboard offerings.
Would you consider building a Mini-ITX rig with 128 GB of RAM for gaming, streaming, or creative workloads—or is that still overkill?
