Kingmakers Brings Assault Rifles to the Middle Ages: Launches in Early Access This October

Developer Redemption Road Games has officially announced that Kingmakers, its time-bending, third-person action strategy game that pits modern military might against medieval forces, will launch in Early Access for PC on October 8, 2025. The news was shared via the game’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, sparking renewed excitement among fans who’ve been awaiting more details since its viral reveal.

Assault Rifles vs. Armored Knights

Kingmakers first gained traction in February 2024 when it dropped an unexpectedly wild announcement trailer that instantly went viral. The footage showcased a mashup few had imagined: modern weapons and vehicles dropped into a medieval battlefield. A pickup truck mows down helpless knights, and a lone soldier fires a shotgun into oncoming sword-wielding enemies. The concept was so hilariously absurd—and instantly appealing—that the game rapidly gained over a million wishlists on Steam, as confirmed in this update.

That momentum hasn’t slowed down, with the developers now preparing to deliver on their bold premise through Early Access this October.

What to Expect in Early Access

While full details about gameplay depth and systems are still under wraps, Kingmakers is expected to deliver an intense blend of third-person shooting, real-time strategy elements, and sandbox-level chaos. Players will use modern firearms, explosives, and vehicles—including tanks and trucks—against massive medieval armies in sprawling open battles.

Given that it’s launching in Early Access, it’s fair to expect some rough edges. But the team appears confident that the core gameplay hook—overwhelming historical armies with modern firepower—will be as fun as it looks. If executed properly, Kingmakers could be one of the year’s most entertaining and original action titles.

For now, interested players can wishlist and follow the game on Steam as October 8 approaches.

Do you think Kingmakers will live up to the chaotic promise of its reveal trailer? Or will time travel prove too much to handle? Drop your thoughts below—we want to hear what class of warrior you’ll be bringing to the battlefield.
