Kingdom Come Creator Daniel Vávra Shifts Focus to Film and TV Adaptation, Warhorse Says Screen Project Is the Next Milestone for the Brand

Warhorse Studios is reportedly moving Kingdom Come beyond games in a more structured way, with franchise creator Daniel Vávra no longer leading development on a third entry and instead focusing on bringing the IP to cinema or television. The update comes via CzechCrunch, citing comments from Warhorse CEO Martin Frývaldský, who framed the move as an intentional step in the studio’s wider transmedia strategy rather than a clean break.

According to Frývaldský, Vávra’s new role is centered on creating a Kingdom Come movie, with the studio saying it has been expanding the brand outside video games for some time through initiatives such as comics, concerts, and tourism. He added that the film route is the most attractive next step, and that he and Vávra are actively working to get Kingdom Come onto the small screen or the big screen. Frývaldský also said a draft script exists and that negotiations with the film industry are already underway, while emphasizing Warhorse does not want to simply sell the rights. The goal is to keep creative control and ensure the adaptation matches what the studio imagines.

Frývaldský also addressed the obvious concern head on: this is not being positioned as a breakup. He said Vávra wanted to move on after several globally successful games and has wanted to try something different for a long time. While Vávra will no longer be in the office daily, the statement suggests he remains connected to Warhorse in a broader capacity, effectively acting as a transmedia lead for the Kingdom Come brand.

The timing is not random. Warhorse reportedly says it was approached about adaptations after the first game, but talks cooled during the COVID era. Now, following major momentum for the franchise and stronger market appetite for game adaptations, the studio appears ready to execute, with the adaptation framed as a complement to Warhorse’s game development rather than a replacement.

For the industry, this is another example of game IP owners building a multi channel growth lane instead of relying on sequel cycles alone. For fans, the headline is simple: if you were waiting for Kingdom Come 3 as the next confirmed project, the creator’s near term focus is now on a screen adaptation first, with Warhorse trying to keep creative intent and quality control at the center of the deal.

If Kingdom Come lands on screen, would you rather see a prestige TV series that can breathe, or a tighter film that focuses on a single iconic storyline?
