Jason Voorhees Finally Enters Dead by Daylight For The Game’s 10th Anniversary
After 10 years of fan requests, Jason Voorhees is finally entering Dead by Daylight. Behaviour Interactive has confirmed that the legendary Friday the 13th slasher will join the game’s roster as a new Killer on June 16, 2026, arriving exactly in time for Dead by Daylight’s 10th anniversary celebration. The long awaited reveal was made through a new Dead by Daylight Jason Voorhees teaser trailer, which immediately leans into the atmosphere and sound design that made Friday the 13th one of horror’s most recognizable franchises. For longtime horror fans, Jason’s arrival in The Fog has been one of the most requested additions since Dead by Daylight first launched.
Players who do not want to wait until the official release can try Jason earlier through the Steam public beta test build, where he will become available on May 26, 2026. His full release will then arrive across the live game on June 16, 2026.
“There was never a question that our 10th anniversary chapter couldn't just be big, it needed to be something really special,”
“When we started to see a path to finally making this partnership a reality for our 10th, we knew then the perfect Jason moment had come. We're just thrilled the stars aligned and we were able to work with the great folks at Jason Universe to deliver this for our players on such a major milestone for Dead by Daylight.”
— Dave Richard, Senior Creative Director at Behaviour Interactive
Jason will arrive with 2 major abilities, Omnipresent Evil and Improvised Carnage. Omnipresent Evil gives Jason a stealth focused power that allows him to disappear from the map entirely, move faster, and leave survivors unaware of his location. While active, Jason players can also track survivors through footprint clues, allowing him to recreate the classic horror fantasy of appearing suddenly from nowhere.
Improvised Carnage gives Jason a more physical and brutal toolset. With this ability, he can throw objects scattered around the map, including locker fragments, hooks, broken machine parts, and other environmental debris. A successful hit will stagger survivors, and with proper timing, players can even pin survivors against a wall using a thrown item.
This combination gives Jason a strong identity inside Dead by Daylight. Omnipresent Evil captures his supernatural slasher presence, while Improvised Carnage reflects his brutal, improvised style of killing across the Friday the 13th films. If Behaviour balances both abilities well, Jason could become one of the most thematically faithful licensed Killers in the game.
“Our fans have wanted Jason to enter The Fog since Dead by Daylight launched,”
“We're thrilled to help make the game's 10th anniversary celebration even more special for fans, and can't wait for players to experience the killer new skins and gameplay that only Jason can deliver. Dead by Daylight has always been about nightmare horror stories, and Jason adds a new chapter we hope players will enjoy.”
— Robbie Barsamian, Executive Vice President at Horror Inc.
Jason’s arrival will also come with a collection of skins, giving players the chance to recreate different looks inspired by his history across the Friday the 13th franchise. For a character with such a long cinematic legacy, cosmetics will likely become a major part of the chapter’s appeal, especially for players who want to bring their favorite Jason designs into The Fog.
The timing could not be stronger. Dead by Daylight officially celebrates its 10th anniversary on June 16, the same day Jason arrives in the live game. For Behaviour Interactive, this is more than another licensed chapter. It is a major milestone moment that brings one of the last missing horror icons into a game that has become the central crossover platform for modern slasher and survival horror franchises.
The announcement also arrives during a complicated period for Behaviour Interactive. Earlier in March 2026, the studio acquired the team behind 7 Days to Die, expanding its presence in the survival and horror space. However, only weeks after that acquisition was finalized, Behaviour reportedly suffered an unknown number of layoffs. Jason’s arrival gives the studio a major celebratory moment, but it also comes during a broader period of industry pressure and internal restructuring.
For Dead by Daylight fans, however, the headline is clear. After years of requests, Jason Voorhees is finally coming to the game. With stealth, environmental brutality, new skins, and a perfectly timed 10th anniversary release, this could become one of the most important licensed chapters in Dead by Daylight history.
Are you excited to play as Jason Voorhees in Dead by Daylight, or do you think another horror icon should have arrived first?
