ICARUS Console Edition Lands on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on February 26, 2026 With New Frontiers and Pet Companion Pack
Rocketwerkz is finally bringing its PvE sci fi survival game ICARUS to consoles. Publisher GRIP Studios has confirmed ICARUS Console Edition will launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on February 26, 2026, following the earlier October 2025 confirmation that the console debut was planned for Q1 2026.
This console release is positioned as a complete on ramp for new players. It includes the base game plus the New Frontiers expansion, alongside the Pet Companion Pack. That pack adds 11 additional animals across 3 new cats, 5 new dogs, and 3 new horses, each with its own leveling, talent tree, and survival requirements designed to make companions feel like a real system rather than a cosmetic feature.
For context, ICARUS originally launched on PC in 2021, and while its early period was rough, Rocketwerkz has spent the years since steadily updating and refining the experience. That long tail support is a key part of why the console release matters now. It is not a day one experiment anymore, it is a more mature survival platform arriving on new hardware with years of iteration behind it.
Content wise, the inclusion of New Frontiers is a big deal because it expands the playable space significantly. With the Prometheus region in the mix, first time console players will have 128 square kilometers of terrain to explore, build across, and survive through, with the game continuing to lean into the loop that made it stand out on PC: mission style drops, hostile planetary conditions, and a progression grind that rewards preparation and smart risk management.
There is one critical limitation to flag for anyone planning to squad up. Crossplay is not supported. That means no PC to console crossplay, and also no crossplay between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you want to play cooperatively, you will need to be on the same platform as your friends. There is always the possibility this changes later if crossplay work continues, but right now you should plan around platform locked matchmaking.
From a console market angle, the timing is smart. Survival games thrive when they arrive with an expanded content package and a clearer onboarding path, because the first impression is everything. Bundling the expansion and companion system from day one gives ICARUS Console Edition a stronger value proposition than the original 2021 PC launch, and it positions the game to compete in a crowded PvE survival space where players expect depth on day one.
Are you planning to jump into ICARUS on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, and if so are you going solo, or building a dedicated platform locked squad for launch week?
