Hollywood Star Glen Powell Praises Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Says He’d Love to Be in the Movie

During New York Comic-Con 2025, Hollywood actor Glen Powell revealed that he has been playing and thoroughly enjoying Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, even expressing his interest in joining its upcoming film adaptation. In an interview with IGN, Powell said:

“Expedition 33 is one of those that I’ve become a fan of. If there’s an Expedition 33 movie, I’d be very interested.”

It’s unclear whether Powell is aware that a live-action adaptation of the game was already announced in January 2025, several months before the title’s official release on April 24. The film is being produced by Story Kitchen, formerly known as dj2 Entertainment, a studio known for bringing popular video game franchises to life. Story Kitchen has been behind the successful Sonic the Hedgehog trilogy and has multiple game adaptations in progress, including Tomb Raider, Life is Strange, It Takes Two, Split Fiction, Just Cause, Sleeping Dogs, Sifu, and Vampire Survivors.

Casting for the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 movie has not yet been announced, but Powell’s interest could certainly turn heads in Hollywood. Following his breakout roles in Top Gun: Maverick, Hit Man, Anyone but You, Twisters, and Chad Powers, Powell has become one of the most in-demand actors in the industry. His upcoming projects include The Running Man, directed by Edgar Wright and based on Stephen King’s 1982 dystopian novel, and Ghostwriter, a fantasy film directed by J.J. Abrams.

Whether Sandfall Interactive and Kepler Interactive can secure a star of Powell’s caliber remains to be seen. Still, with Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 surpassing five million copies sold, the project now has both the critical acclaim and commercial success needed to attract major talent.

Meanwhile, the developers are currently working on a free update for the game, which will include new late-game bosses and an entirely new location to explore as a thank-you to the dedicated community that helped make Expedition 33 one of 2025’s most celebrated releases.
