Hollow Knight: Silksong Mod Adds Rudimentary PvP Multiplayer
Hollow Knight: Silksong has already captured millions of players worldwide, quickly becoming a critically acclaimed hit. But despite its overwhelming success, the game lacks one feature that fans have long hoped for: multiplayer. Now, thanks to the modding community, PC players can get a taste of what that experience might feel like.
A new mod by XvX, available on Nexus Mods, introduces rudimentary Player vs. Player (PvP) multiplayer into Silksong.
The mod allows up to 30 players to fight against each other online, though such large-scale battles are understandably chaotic. Beyond PvP, it also includes an experimental co-op mode for a single boss, Fourth Chorus, which has been modified to synchronize damage across all players. The creator’s long-term goal is to expand co-op functionality to more of the game.
At present, this is an early test build (version 0.7.1) with uncertain stability. The creator warns that bugs are expected, especially during the Fourth Chorus fight where the host’s death can break the boss’s AI. Despite the rough edges, the mod already demonstrates the potential for multiplayer fun in Team Cherry’s otherwise single-player world.
Installation Instructions
The mod only works with the Steam version of Hollow Knight: Silksong. Setup requires some manual steps:
Unzip the mod files to the game’s root directory (not in a separate folder).
Once players are in the main interface, the host clicks “Create Room (创建房间)” and then “Invite Players (邀请玩家)”.
All players must accept the game invitation before entering.
The PvP configuration file can be found under:
Hollow Knight Silksong\BepInEx\config\com.XvX.cfg
For Fourth Chorus co-op, all players’ save files must have the boss undefeated. Everyone except the host must activate the boss first, then the host can activate it. The host may need cheats enabled to prevent issues if they die mid-fight.
This PvP/Co-op mod is just one of several projects emerging since Silksong’s debut. Other popular mods include:
Luma HDR Mod for enhanced visuals
Relaxed Mode Mod for easier gameplay
Additional quality-of-life tweaks designed to smooth out progression
With the game’s popularity and Team Cherry’s silence on official multiplayer, the modding community is clearly stepping up to explore new possibilities for Silksong.
Would you want Team Cherry to eventually add official co-op or PvP support to Hollow Knight: Silksong, or should the series remain purely single-player at its core?
