Heart Machine’s Next Game Possessor(s) Arrives November 11 on PC and PS5

Heart Machine, the acclaimed indie studio behind Hyper Light Drifter, Solar Ash, and the ongoing early access title Hyper Light Breaker, has officially announced the release date for its next major project. Possessor(s) will launch on November 11, 2025, for PC and PlayStation 5.

Possessor(s) is a 2D search-action (Metroidvania-style) game where players control two characters bound together:

  • Luca – a high school student caught in a desperate fight for survival.

  • Rhem – the demon possessing Luca, forced into cooperation after being used by the mega-corporation Agradyne to fuel the energy grid of Sanzu City.

The game’s story focuses on their uneasy alliance as they attempt to escape Agradyne’s clutches and navigate a dystopian city powered by exploited demonic entities.

The newly released trailer highlights Heart Machine’s distinctive art direction, blending neon-soaked environments, fluid combat, and exploration-driven gameplay. It also dives into the narrative setup, giving players a first look at how Luca and Rhem’s unique partnership defines both the mechanics and the story.

The release of Possessor(s) will mark Heart Machine’s second major launch of 2025. Earlier this year, the studio released Hyper Light Breaker in early access, which has been receiving frequent updates based on player feedback. You can read the latest development update for Hyper Light Breaker here: Steam News – Hyper Light Breaker Update. Unlike Breaker, however, Possessor(s) will launch as a complete game, not through early access.

With its November launch date fast approaching, Possessor(s) is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated indie releases of the year, cementing Heart Machine’s reputation for blending rich storytelling with innovative gameplay.

Which Heart Machine title is your favorite so far - Hyper Light Drifter, Solar Ash, Hyper Light Breaker, or the upcoming Possessor(s)?
