Halo: Infinite to Receive Final Update as Studio Shifts Focus to Halo: Campaign Evolved and Future Projects
After nearly three years of post-launch updates, Halo Studios has announced that Halo: Infinite will receive one final content update next week before the development team transitions to new projects. The studio confirmed that it will now focus on Halo: Campaign Evolved, a full remake of the original 2001 Halo: Combat Evolved campaign built using Unreal Engine 5, and set for release in 2026.
The farewell update, titled Operation: Infinite, is scheduled to go live on November 18, 2025. This last major update will deliver a wealth of new content, in-game rewards, and balance adjustments designed to celebrate Halo: Infinite’s legacy while giving players a final opportunity to unlock long-requested items.
To start, the update introduces a 2x XP boost for both Career Rank and Spartan Points (SP) across all matchmaking playlists, making it easier for players to reach the maximum level and unlock the legendary Mark VI armor kit, worn by Master Chief in the campaign.
Operation: Infinite also includes both a free 100-tier Operation Pass and a 100-tier Premium Pass, with no expiration date, allowing players to complete them at their own pace.
The Free Operation Pass will unlock three new armor sets — Serpin, Seeker, and Adamant — along with new coatings, visors, and stances.
The Premium Operation Pass will grant access to five exclusive armor sets — Artificer, Seedwarden, Kobold, Phoenix, and First Vanguard — plus six unique weapon models and more than thirty customization items.
Players who purchase the Premium tier will receive immediate access to the Charged Quill Shock Rifle model and the Phoenix Gold weapon coating.
In addition to the passes, Halo Studios is expanding The Exchange, adding over 200 previously unreleased customization items, including armor pieces, attachments, coatings, charms, and visors. Content from all previous Operations, Events, and Fractures will return to The Exchange, alongside commemorative bundles inspired by Halo 5: Guardians.
Operation: Infinite also debuts two new multiplayer maps. The Yuletide map introduces a festive arena to the Quick Play playlist, while Vacancy, a new asymmetrical map, will be added to the Ranked Arena, Ranked Slayer, and Ranked Doubles playlists. Ranked Seasons will continue to refresh every few months, offering elite players opportunities to earn exclusive Spartan customizations.
Although this will be the final major update for Halo: Infinite, ongoing support will continue through rotating Daily and Weekly Challenges, giving players consistent ways to earn Spartan Points and progress through their Operation Passes. While Halo: Infinite’s multiplayer launched to strong praise in December 2021, fans grew increasingly frustrated by the slow rollout of content and inconsistent live-service updates. With this final update, the studio aims to give players a definitive closure to the Infinite era before beginning a new chapter in the Halo franchise.
Following this transition, the development team will direct its resources toward Halo: Campaign Evolved, which reimagines the legendary story that started it all. In addition to this confirmed project, industry rumors suggest that remakes of Halo 2 and Halo 3’s campaigns may also be underway, along with early pre-production on the next mainline Halo title.
These upcoming projects mark a strategic shift in Halo’s future, prioritizing single-player experiences and story-driven campaigns powered by modern technology. Halo: Campaign Evolved aims to bring the classic adventure of Master Chief and Cortana to new generations of players with enhanced visuals, expanded storytelling, and a renewed focus on immersion.
