Forza Horizon 6 Reportedly Set in Japan, Reveal Expected at Tokyo Game Show 2025

It looks like racing fans may soon be heading to the streets and mountain roads of Japan in Forza Horizon 6. According to multiple reports, Microsoft and Playground Games are preparing to unveil the highly anticipated next entry in the series at Tokyo Game Show 2025, with the game rumored to be set in Japan.

The speculation began when a now-deleted Instagram post from car importer Cult and Classic, showing a Japanese Kei car being photographed, was spotted by VGC. Kei cars are almost exclusively manufactured in Japan and rarely seen elsewhere, making the post a strong hint toward the setting.

Adding fuel to the fire, a Windows Central report claims that “official documents” are already circulating, confirming that Forza Horizon 6 will indeed be announced at Tokyo Game Show 2025, which takes place in late September. Industry insiders Tom Henderson and Nate the Hate both corroborated the claim, with Nate adding that he has seen no evidence of a Nintendo Switch 2 version being part of the current plans.

If the Japan setting is confirmed, it would make for one of the most iconic and exciting entries in the franchise yet. Japan is home to legendary car culture, from the winding touge mountain roads to neon-lit city streets, drifting heritage, and a vast mix of traditional and modern automotive history. It is a location fans have long requested for the series, making the Tokyo Game Show an ideal stage for the reveal.

While Forza Horizon 5 launched in 2021 and took players to Mexico, the series has previously featured the UK (Forza Horizon 4) and Australia (Forza Horizon 3). After nearly four years and despite recent layoffs at Playground Games, anticipation for the next entry is higher than ever. Reports also suggest that Forza Horizon 6 may arrive on PlayStation as well, thanks to the strong performance of Forza Horizon 5 on the platform, although Microsoft has yet to confirm platform details.

If the rumors are accurate, fans won’t have to wait much longer for confirmation, as Tokyo Game Show 2025 kicks off in just a few weeks.

Would you like to see Forza Horizon 6 embrace Japan’s car culture with drifting, touge runs, and night racing through Tokyo?
