Fleabag Producer Two Brothers Pictures to Develop Atomfall TV Adaptation Following BAFTA Win

Rebellion’s post apocalyptic survival RPG Atomfall is heading to television, marking another major expansion for the studio’s rising new IP. The adaptation will be led by Two Brothers Pictures, the production company known for acclaimed projects such as Fleabag and The Assassin, with the news first reported by Deadline. The announcement arrives just weeks after Atomfall secured the BAFTA award for Best British Game, further strengthening the title’s momentum after its launch on PC and consoles in March 2025.

According to the report, Two Brothers Pictures founders Harry Williams and Jack Williams will serve as the main writers and creative leads for the television adaptation. While it has not yet been confirmed whether they will also take on formal showrunner roles, their involvement signals a hands on approach to shaping the series. Rebellion co founder Chris Kingsley and creative director and chief executive officer Jason Kingsley are also attached as executive producers, ensuring the original creative leadership remains involved as the project moves into television.

"Atomfall has such a distinctive British tone and setting, and it's been a real joy developing it alongside the Rebellion team," said Harry and Jack Williams. "Especially as two brothers working alongside two brothers. There's something very exciting about expanding this strange, unsettling story for television."

The Kingsley brothers also highlighted the creative fit between both teams and their enthusiasm for the adaptation. "Harry and Jack demonstrated a clear love for Atomfall and talked about their own particular endings when they were playing the game. It is always exciting to work with people who share the same passion for creating and telling great stories and we are sure that this partnership will help to deliver a television series that will delight fans of the game and beyond."

From an industry perspective, Atomfall feels like a natural candidate for adaptation. Its bleak alternate history, unsettling British countryside setting, and survival driven structure have already drawn comparisons to franchises such as Fallout and STALKER. That tone, combined with a world built around player choice and divergent endings, gives the television version an opportunity to expand on the game’s atmosphere while reaching a broader audience that may not yet be familiar with the IP.

That broader reach could become one of the most interesting aspects of this project. Unlike many recent game to screen adaptations, Atomfall is not based on a decades old franchise with deeply entrenched mainstream recognition. It is still a relatively new property, which means the TV series could play a significant role in defining its long term identity. In a best case scenario, the adaptation could elevate Atomfall beyond the gaming space and turn it into one of Rebellion’s most valuable cross media brands.

Rebellion has already confirmed that Atomfall has surpassed 2 million copies sold, a strong benchmark for a fresh release in a highly competitive market. While the studio has not announced a sequel, the commercial traction and now a television adaptation suggest that the company sees long term potential in the brand. For the gaming audience, that opens the door to an interesting possibility: the show could eventually become even more visible than the game itself, creating a rare case where a new gaming IP scales into a mainstream entertainment property at record speed.

For now, the adaptation remains in early development, but the combination of a BAFTA winning game, a rising fanbase, and a production team with proven television credentials puts Atomfall in a strong position. If executed well, this could become one of the next major examples of how game worlds can successfully transition into prestige television while also feeding momentum back into the original franchise.

What do you think, can Atomfall become one of the next major game to TV successes, or is it still too early for a new IP to make that leap?
