Enshrouded Launches Its Largest Update Yet With “Wake of the Water,” Adding Dynamic Water, Fishing, and a New Biome

Keen Games has released the biggest update so far for its popular survival game Enshrouded, currently in Early Access on PC. The new update, titled “Wake of the Water,” brings some of the most anticipated features to date, including dynamic voxel-based water, an entirely new biome, and major improvements to combat and gameplay balance. The full 1.0 release for PC and consoles is planned for 2026.

The Wake of the Water update introduces an expansive water biome that allows players to experience full underwater exploration for the first time. This new system uses dynamic voxel water that interacts with terrain and player actions in real time, setting a new standard for creativity and immersion in Enshrouded’s world.

To celebrate the update, Keen Games has published two new trailers. The first offers a cinematic look at the new content and environments, while the second provides an in-depth breakdown of the update’s features and development process. You can watch both here:

In addition to the water system, Wake of the Water adds new enemies and bosses, a complete combat overhaul, and new gameplay elements. Players can now wield greatswords, learn new weapon skills, and equip new armor sets, offering more depth and variety in combat.

The update also introduces fishing, expanding the survival mechanics by allowing players to catch food and materials from bodies of water. Combined with numerous quality-of-life improvements, performance updates, and balancing changes, this release represents a major step forward for the game.

Since its Early Access debut in January 2024, Enshrouded has received seven major updates, each shaping the game into a deeper and more refined experience. With Wake of the Water, Keen Games demonstrates its commitment to building one of the most technically advanced and visually stunning survival RPGs available today.
