Dying Light: The Beast Update 1.4 Introduces Ray Tracing on PC, New Game Plus, Legend Levels, and more
Techland has officially released Update 1.4 for Dying Light The Beast, bringing one of the largest post launch upgrades yet for the first person survival horror title. One of the standout additions is the long awaited ray tracing support on PC. Originally promised before launch but ultimately delayed, players can now enable ray traced lighting, shadows, and reflections to enhance the atmospheric tension of Castor Woods. The update also addresses over seventy graphical issues, including texture problems, floating objects, clipping artifacts, and misaligned architectural elements.
In alignment with the eleven week post launch roadmap presented last month, Update 1.4 introduces substantial replayability features. The new New Game Plus mode allows players to revisit Kyle Crane’s story with all previously acquired weapons, gear, and character progression intact. Enemies scale in difficulty and new high tier weapons and loot become available. The mode is fully repeatable, with each completed run further increasing difficulty levels and unlocking stronger rewards as well as tougher enemies roaming Castor Woods.
The update also delivers Legend Levels, the signature endgame progression system from the original Dying Light. After reaching Level fifteen, all XP is converted into Legend XP, allowing players to continue growing their character beyond the main skill tree. Higher difficulty tiers and New Game Plus cycles provide accelerated XP gains. Each Legend Level grants points that can be invested in passive bonuses such as higher health, improved combat performance, and enhanced Beast Mode capabilities.
Community feedback played a major role in shaping Update 1.4. Techland confirmed that more than two hundred player discovered issues related to parkour and environmental traversal have now been fixed.
Update 1.4 also introduces three new weapon finishers: one for one handed blunt weapons, one for two handed blunt weapons, and one for two handed slashing weapons. These additions tie directly into the Week Seven Community Challenge focused entirely on Finishers.
