Dune: Awakening Free Weekend Begins as Chapter 2 Update and The Lost Harvest DLC Go Live

Funcom has kicked off a major content drop for Dune: Awakening, launching its first paid and free DLCs alongside the game’s first free weekend, running from September 11 to September 15. This gives newcomers a chance to explore Arrakis at no cost while long-time players dive into new story content and gameplay improvements.

Chapter 2: Free Update

The free DLC continues Dune: Awakening’s central campaign beyond the conclusion of Act 3, revealing more of the mysteries that brought players to Arrakis. It also introduces a range of new features and enhancements:

  • Character re-customization, with new hairstyles and tattoos

  • Expanded contracts and armor options

  • More dynamic encounters across Arrakis

  • Combat and exploration improvements

  • Removal of the quicksand border, allowing traversal of the Deep Desert by foot or ground vehicles

The Lost Harvest: Paid DLC

For players who purchase the standalone DLC, or who own the Season Pass or Deluxe Edition, The Lost Harvest offers fresh content and customization options:

  • New ground vehicles

  • Additional building pieces

  • Armor sets and cosmetic gear customizations

  • Weapon skins and a new emote

Patch Notes and Fixes

Funcom also released full patch notes for Chapter 2, detailing bug fixes, balance adjustments, and performance improvements. These updates are aimed at refining combat, exploration, and overall stability, making this one of the most significant updates since launch.

With both free and paid DLC live, and the free weekend underway, Dune: Awakening enters its most ambitious phase yet, expanding both narrative and gameplay while offering new players a chance to experience the desert planet for themselves.

Will you be jumping into Dune: Awakening during the free weekend, or are you already preparing your base with The Lost Harvest DLC?
