Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen Launches October 9, 2026 With New Region, Relics, Dungeons, and Nintendo Switch 2 Version

CAPCOM made a surprise appearance during the latest Nintendo Direct to officially announce Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, a major expansion for Dragon’s Dogma 2 launching on October 9, 2026. The expansion will arrive on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2, bringing the acclaimed action RPG to Nintendo’s new hardware for the first time.

For longtime fans, the title immediately carries weight. Dark Arisen was also the name of the expanded version of the original Dragon’s Dogma, which became the definitive way to experience the first game. With Dragon’s Dogma 2 now receiving its own Dark Arisen expansion, CAPCOM appears to be following a similar path by adding a dangerous new region, stronger enemies, powerful equipment, new dungeon challenges, and more character customization options.

The biggest new addition is Norgan, a frozen region that was once a thriving part of the Vermund kingdom. Long abandoned for reasons still unknown, Norgan has become a dangerous land covered in thick snow and filled with brutal hordes, powerful creatures, and enemies strong enough to challenge even experienced Arisens.

CAPCOM describes Norgan as a place where few have dared to travel for ages. Those brave enough to enter its icy routes will face dangerous battles, but the rewards may be worth the risk. Players who defeat Norgan’s strongest enemies or carefully explore its frozen territory can discover powerful artifacts hidden throughout the region.

These artifacts are called Relics. Players can obtain Relics by slaying monsters in Norgan or exploring the area, then bring them to the Norgandian Settlement for appraisal. Once appraised, the Relics reveal their true form as powerful gear with enhanced offensive and defensive capabilities.

Some specific gear pieces can also unlock unique skills, giving players new combat advantages and more ways to customize their build. This system should give Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen a stronger endgame loop, especially for players who enjoy hunting rare equipment and testing new combinations of weapons, armor, and abilities.

The expansion will also introduce Relic Expedition Cycles, which are designed to provide unlimited opportunities for challenge and rewards. That suggests CAPCOM is building Dark Arisen as more than a one time story expansion. Instead, the new systems appear to give players repeatable reasons to return to Norgan and continue improving their Arisen.

Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen will also include 12 new dungeon challenges called Pathfinder’s Trials. These dungeons contain rare equipment once held by past Arisens, adding another layer of mystery and progression to the expansion. For players who enjoyed the danger and discovery of Dragon’s Dogma 2’s world, the Pathfinder’s Trials could become one of the expansion’s biggest highlights.

Beyond combat and exploration, CAPCOM is also expanding the character creator with new hairstyles and tattoos. Character customization has always been a major part of Dragon’s Dogma’s appeal, especially because players create both their Arisen and their main Pawn. More visual options should help players further personalize their characters before heading into Norgan.

The announcement was not entirely unexpected. Fans had already suspected that an expansion was on the way after several teases and SteamDB updates. CAPCOM had also included the Dragon’s Dogma series in its long term roadmap for future development, indirectly confirming that the company still had plans for the franchise.

Still, the Nintendo Direct reveal makes the expansion official and gives fans a firm release date. The addition of Nintendo Switch 2 is also important, as it expands Dragon’s Dogma 2 to a new audience and gives Nintendo’s next system another major third party RPG for 2026.
