DOOM: The Dark Ages Is Out on May 15, Gets PC Specs; $80 Price, No Multiplayer

id Software and Bethesda Softworks used the Xbox Developer Direct 2025 to confirm that DOOM: The Dark Ages, the third installment (though technically a prequel) of the rebooted series, will launch on May 15 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. As a game published under the Microsoft-owned Bethesda banner, it will be available on Game Pass from day one. According to the official announcement, this time around, fans can expect no multiplayer component at all, as id Software has fully focused on delivering the biggest and best single-player campaign they could.

Priced at $79.99 for the standard edition, DOOM: The Dark Ages is notably costlier than many anticipated. A Premium Edition at $109.99 includes up to two days of early access, a campaign DLC, digital artbook and soundtrack, a Divinity Skin Pack, and a bonus music video and documentary. The ultimate version, the Collector's Bundle, retails for $199.99 and is available from the Bethesda Gear Store, featuring all Premium Edition content plus physical extras like a steelbook case, a 12-inch DOOM Slayer statue complete with faux fur cape, detachable Shotgun and Flail accessories, and an exclusive metal Key Card replica.

Running on the latest iteration of the id Tech engine, the game promises visual enhancements including path tracing and NVIDIA DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation support on PC. Bethesda also provided detailed system requirements.

During the showcase, Bethesda released a new trailer offering a glimpse of the medieval-inspired carnage, where players battle demonic hordes in a darker, more brutal setting. The decision to forego multiplayer has sparked debates, but id Software insists the singular focus on crafting a top-tier single-player experience will make DOOM: The Dark Ages the definitive entry in the modern series. With its higher price point, advanced visual tech, and a deep narrative campaign, many fans are eager to see if it can live up to the legendary franchise name.

Does the higher price tag and purely single-player approach make DOOM: The Dark Ages more or less appealing to you? Share your thoughts and let us know if you’re ready to dive into the demonic medieval world of DOOM!
