Donkey Kong Bananza Handheld Mode Resolution and Performance Officially Confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2

Donkey Kong Bananza, one of the most anticipated titles in the Nintendo Switch 2 launch lineup, has officially had its handheld mode resolution and performance details confirmed. According to the newly released digital edition of Nintendo Magazine 2025 Special Issue, the game will run at up to 1080p resolution, 60 frames per second, and with HDR support while in handheld mode.

This confirmation, found on page 12 of the magazine, marks a significant achievement for a launch window title, especially considering that early releases often fall short of utilizing a new console's full capabilities. However, while the numbers are impressive on paper, a thorough performance analysis will still be needed post-launch to determine how consistently Donkey Kong Bananza can maintain native 1080p resolution and a stable 60 FPS during real gameplay.

Donkey Kong Bananza represents a fresh new chapter for the beloved franchise. Although it is not considered a reboot — Cranky Kong’s presence serves as a reminder of its continuity — the game introduces a bold reimagining of the titular character’s design and gameplay. For the first time, Donkey Kong is equipped with powerful new fist attacks, enabling him to destroy parts of the environment, adding a dynamic and destructive twist to the traditional platforming gameplay fans know and love.

The inclusion of HDR in handheld mode also suggests that Nintendo Switch 2 will offer a premium visual experience right out of the gate, potentially setting a new standard for handheld gaming quality.

Nintendo has not yet detailed how Donkey Kong Bananza will perform in docked mode, but given the promising handheld specs, expectations are high for an even more robust visual and performance profile when played on a larger screen.

Are you excited to experience Donkey Kong Bananza at 1080p and 60 FPS in handheld mode? What new features are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments!
