Darksiders 4 Officially Announced: All Four Horsemen Return with Online Co-Op in Franchise’s Most Ambitious Entry Yet
The THQ Nordic Digital Showcase 2025 closed with a major reveal “Darksiders 4” is officially in development, marking the return of Gunfire Games to the franchise that put them on the map. After years of speculation and subtle teases, fans are finally getting the long-awaited continuation of the apocalyptic saga, with all Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse uniting for the first time in series history.
Following Darksiders III’s lukewarm reception in 2018 and the more positively received Darksiders Genesis in 2019, this new chapter promises to push the franchise to new heights. Developed once again by Gunfire Games, founded by David Adams of the original Darksiders team (Vigil Games) Darksiders 4 looks to bring the Eternal War to a dramatic crescendo.
Features Confirmed
Playable Four Horsemen
For the first time ever, players can take on the roles of War, Death, Fury, and Strife, each with their own distinct weapons, powers, and combat styles.Online Co-Op Gameplay
As officially revealed on the game’s Steam page, Darksiders 4 will feature online cooperative play, allowing players to team up with friends and tackle the apocalypse together.Cinematic Combat and Traversal

The game promises multiple mythic realms, each filled with hidden lore, ferocious enemies, and massive boss battles rooted in biblical and mythological inspirations.
While details remain limited, the trailer gives a taste of the tone: dark, intense, and climactic. It positions Darksiders 4 as a culmination of the stories told across the first three mainline games and Genesis. The stakes are higher than ever, and for longtime fans, the payoff looks monumental.
It’s also worth noting that Darksiders 4 will be Gunfire Games’ first major return to the franchise following their work on Chronos: Before the Ashes and the Remnant series. This return to form signals a major investment from THQ Nordic into one of its most beloved IPs.
