Forza Horizon 6 Goes Gold Ahead of May 19 Launch, Bringing the Series’ Biggest Soundtrack Yet
Playground Games has locked in several major launch details for Forza Horizon 6 ahead of its May 19 release, confirming that the game has officially gone gold, preload is now live on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PC through the Xbox app, and Steam preload is still on the way. The studio also confirmed that Early Access begins on May 15 for Premium Edition and Premium Upgrade owners. Storage requirements are substantial, with 130 GB needed on Xbox Series S, 135 GB on Xbox Series X, and 160 GB plus an SSD required on PC.
Playground also revealed the console performance targets for both Xbox systems. On Xbox Series X, Quality mode runs at native 4K and 30 FPS, while Performance mode targets 4K with dynamic scaling to maintain 60 FPS. On Xbox Series S, the official Forza community post confirms separate Quality and Performance modes as well, matching the push to give players a choice between image quality and frame rate at launch.
One of the biggest highlights, however, is the music. Playground says Forza Horizon 6 will feature 9 radio stations and the largest number of tracks ever included in a Horizon game. The full station lineup is Horizon Pulse, Horizon Bass Arena, Horizon Block Party, Horizon XS, Hospital Records, Gacha City Radio, Sub Pop Records, Horizon Wave, and Horizon Opus. The official soundtrack reveal also emphasizes that Japanese music will play a much bigger role this time, with J pop appearing at the Horizon Festival for the first time alongside electronic, drum and bass, rock, indie, synthwave, and classical selections.
So far, Playground has fully revealed the first 2 stations, and they already give a strong sense of how wide the musical range will be. Horizon Bass Arena leans into electronic and dance cuts, while Horizon XS pushes harder rock and alternative energy, led by a lineup that includes BABYMETAL, Linkin Park, A Day To Remember, Rise Against, Spiritbox, Pendulum with AWOLNATION, and ONE OK ROCK.
The Horizon XS reveal is likely to draw the most attention from players right away, especially with BABYMETAL appearing twice through “White Flame” and “Gimme Chocolate!!”, while Linkin Park lands on the station with “Up From The Bottom.” That gives Forza Horizon 6 a noticeably broader and louder rock identity than many fans may have expected, while still fitting the game’s Japan setting and larger festival atmosphere.

With less than 2 weeks to go until launch, Playground is clearly positioning Forza Horizon 6 as a bigger audiovisual event than any previous Horizon entry. Between the large install size, the console performance options, and a soundtrack built around 9 stations instead of the usual smaller spread, this looks like one of the most ambitious festival presentations the series has attempted yet.
What do you think about the first soundtrack reveal for Forza Horizon 6? Which station are you jumping into first, Horizon XS or Bass Arena?
