Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Set for Major Reveal at Gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live

Activision has confirmed that the next major showcase for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will take place during Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025, hosted by Geoff Keighley. The event is scheduled for August 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM ET / 11:00 AM PT / 8:00 PM CEST, and will be livestreamed globally. Keighley shared the announcement via his official X account, making it clear that Black Ops 7 will headline the show’s premiere hour.

This reveal marks a strategic shift for the franchise, as new Call of Duty titles are typically unveiled through standalone, Activision-hosted events. The inclusion of Black Ops 7 at one of the biggest gaming stages in the world suggests a broader marketing push, possibly aligning with Activision’s recent focus on global community engagement and multi-platform support.

While this won’t be the first time we’ve seen Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, it will be the most substantial showcase since its brief teaser premiered at the Xbox Games Showcase in June. That teaser offered a glimpse into the game’s futuristic 2035 setting and its darker narrative tone. It also confirmed that the full campaign will be playable in co-op, a first for the Black Ops series and a welcome addition for fans of shared story experiences.

The upcoming reveal may include extensive gameplay footage, deeper campaign insights, and possibly a look at the new multiplayer and Warzone integrations. It’s unclear whether a separate, Call of Duty-specific Direct or event will still happen later this year, but based on past marketing trends, more detailed presentations are likely to follow.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is slated to launch later this year across PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One. Fans can expect a robust rollout as the game aims to push boundaries in narrative depth, cooperative storytelling, and live-service multiplayer content.
